Okkkkkkkkkk....last night I talked to Becci in Michigan, then Colette in Ohio. They both get 2 days & nights of their choice, to come & stay with us at Pakadevas Inn For The Nite heheheee They are comming in May or June. Rick & Lori are comming in June. I talked to Lori last night. She is just as nutty on the phone as she is in her emails. This oughta be lots of fun! Judy, last but not least, I have to call as well & see when she plans to come. This is fun:) We look so forward to the new year & meeting some of you! Awwwwwwwww: Oh I'm back, back, back. I have had such a time getting you back. Oh how I missed your newsletter. Did Kyle get home yet? I pray that he did. I want to say congradulation to the winners of your contest. You had so many good names. I hope that one day I will be able to get to your neck of the woods to meet you. You are such a grand lady. You are my best e-mail friend. Thank you for being here for us. Do take care. They are sending the hospital bed to Kay in the morning (yes, insurance covered it:). They will also send other things he will need. The wheelchair goes to the hospital for him tomorrow (yes, it is covered by insurance too:). Kay & her sis-in-law will get Kyle Monday morning. An ambulance will pick him up for 5 hours for dialysis in the afternoon & return him. This is a wheelchair friendly ambulance. This will happen every Monday, Wednesday & Friday (yup...all covered by their insurance:) Isn't God good, to send them all these awesome Blessings? Kay's friend, Cheri, is helping her finish up moving around their bedroom for the hospital bed to fit. He will need it for the procedure with his feeding tube (yup, feeding stuff is covered by insurance as well:). Kay will administer all these things + his needles. Nurse Kay! Kay is an angel really. Depending on the type of tree burned, wood ash varies in alkalinity and will act as a liming agent in the soil, raising the pH. This makes it a useful additive if you have acidic soil or compost heaps that you want neutralized. Root crops, bulbs, annuals and most perennials will find it beneficial. Tomatoes seem to love it. Because of its alkaline nature, you should avoid giving it to acidic loving plants like rhododendrons, azaleas, cranberries or blueberries. It may also promote potato scab when applied to potatoes. Store fireplace ash safely in a metal garbage container and apply it to plants in the spring. Wood ash is easily absorbed into the soil so you only need 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch to dress flowerbeds. Wood ash from treated wood contains the residue from harmful chemicals and should not be used in the garden. Other ways to use wood ash are as a slug repellent around plants, a glass cleaner (use on fireplace glass-rub with newspaper) or as a melting agent (provides traction on snow and ice).
