Father's Promise

I'll Always be There for You!

It's a fascinating story that comes out of the 1989
earthquake which almost flattened Armenia. This deadly
tremor killed over 30,000 people in less than four
minutes. In the midst of all the confusion of the
earthquake, a father rushed to his son's school. When
he arrived there he discovered the building was flat
as a pancake.

Standing there looking at what was left of the school,
the father remembered a promise he made to his son, "No
matter what, I'll always be there for you!" Tears began
to fill his eyes. It looked like a hopeless situation,
but he could not take his mind off his promise.

Remembering that his son's classroom was in the back
right corner of the building, the father rushed there
and started digging through the rubble. As he was
digging other grieving parents arrived, clutching
their hearts, saying: "My son! "My daughter!" They
tried to pull him off of what was left of the school
saying: "It's too late!" "They're dead!" "You can't
help!" "Go home!" Even a police officer and a fire
fighter told him he should go home. To everyone who
tried to stop him he said, "Are you going to help me
now?" They did not answer him and he continued digging
for his son stone by stone.

He needed to know for himself: "Is my boy alive or is
he dead?" This man dug for eight hours and then twelve
and then twenty-four and then thirty-six. Finally in
the thirty-eighth hour, as he pulled back a boulder,
he heard his son's voice. He screamed his son's name,
"ARMAND!" and a voice answered him, "Dad?" It's me
Dad!" Then the boy added these priceless words, "I
told the other kids not to worry. I told 'em that if
you were alive, you'd save me and when you saved me,
they'd be saved. You promised that, Dad. 'No matter
what,' you said, 'I'll always be there for you!' And
here you are Dad. You kept your promise!"

Thank you Kay:)

Dear Dad,
Although I can't see, or touch you,
I know you are here with us.
Although I can't reach out and hug you
I know you are near to us.
Although I can't talk with you,
I know you hear our prayers.
I want you to know on Fathers Day Dad,
how dear you are to us.
Happy Father's Day Dad!

My precious Dad has passed on.
Without a doubt he was the kindest,
most loving and accepting person I
ever knew. He dwells with Heavenly Father
now, but I know he will always be an
angel watching over us, walking with us.

Father's Day

Most likley a family picnic.
That is what we usually do.
It is fun with all the children
and grandchildren.
Each family brings a dish.
It makes it much easier that way.
Some times we have a sit down
with all the trimmings,and
sometimes just a sandwich,salads,
deserts ect.
It seems as if each year we need
to add another another plate.
(family's growing).
The older ones play games outside
or do crafts, while the little ones have their naps.
Busy day for all.
BUT FUN.

Father's

Caitlin already has her Dad's gift. Since he isn't in our lives anymore
she will send him the gift along with a card and picture of herself.
She'll call her Godfather and Grandfather to speak with them. She's
allotted herself 45 minutes for each. Then she and I will go to the
evening service at church after an early dinner out.

Fathers Day the family usually all come
home. We do grilling and a picnic in
the yard and deck.
The Grandchildren play ball, frizby, tag ect.
The adults sit in the shade and say"I wish
I had half the energy those kids have".
Everyone brings something for dinner
(salads,cake,pies,rolls ect) so no one
person has a lot of expense, time and
energy into the dinner so we can all
enjoy the day.

This father's day I will be attending a party. Not just any party. Since I have no living parent, I am helping a friend with her party. The party is for a wonderful person, (her father) Tommy Reavis. This man is old enough to be my father and still does volunteer work for his church and community almost daily. He has children spread out all over this United States and for the first time in 30 some years he will be seeing some of them on that day. His daughter Cheryl has been blessed with living in the town with him.
His other two children who had lived here have passed away. I am sure
they will attend this special get-together in spirit though.  This will be the biggest bbq bash and suprise he and his family and friends can come up with. We are all bringing food and it has to be enough to feed an army. LOL
I will be bringing a turkey pan of baked beans, and 5 dozen deviled
eggs. Yes ,60 sections guys! It will be worth  /any /effort it takes, I
assure you. This is how I will spend father's day. I will indeed remember my wonderful father as well! In this case though, the twinges of sadness may be a bit easier this year. Buried amongst those siblings who will be reunited, will be the nicest place to be. I know  the children, grandcildren, greatgranchildren, and yes a great great granchild will attend. More than 60 people in all, and for once I will be happy to be in the crowd.  Happy father's day to all !

Father's day
We don't have anything fancy planned, our grandchildren are up north, that is where my step-son lives. So, I plan on taking my husband out a few days earlier, on June 14th, for his early father's day dinner.
This is the best we can do right now, income wise.

MY SON ... Take my Son

A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They had
everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would
often sit together and admire the great works of art.

When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very
courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The
father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son.

About a month later, just before Christmas, there was a knock at the
door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands. He said, "Sir, you don't know me, but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life. He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the heart and he died instantly. It is because of him that I stand before you here today. He often talked about you, and your love for art." The young man held out this package. "I know this isn't much. I'm not really a great artist, but I think your son would have wanted you to have this."

The father opened the package. It was a portrait of his son, painted by
the young man. He stared in awe at the way the soldier had captured the
personality of his son in the painting. The father was so drawn to the
eyes that his own eyes welled up with tears. He thanked the young man
and offered to pay him for the picture. "Oh, no sir, I could never repay what your son did for me. It's a gift."

The father hung the portrait over his mantle. Every time visitors came
to his home he took them to see the portrait of his son before he showed them any of the other great works he had collected.

The man died a few months later. There was to be a great auction of his
paintings. Many wealthy and influential people gathered, excited over
seeing the great paintings and having an opportunity to purchase one for their collection.

On the platform sat the painting of the son. The auctioneer pounded his
gavel. "We will start the bidding with this picture of the son. Who
will bid for this picture?"

There was silence.

Then a voice in the back of the room shouted, "We want to see the
famous paintings. Skip this one."

But the auctioneer persisted. "Will somebody bid for this painting. Who
will start the bidding? $100, $200?" Another voice, angrily ... "We didn't come to see this painting. We came to see the Van Goghs, the Rembrandts. Get on with the real bids!"

But still the auctioneer continued ... "The son! The son! Who'll take
the son?" Finally, a voice came from the very back of the room. It was the longtime gardener of the man and his son. "I'll give $10 for the painting." Being a poor man, it was all he could afford.

"We have $10, who will bid $20?"
"Give it to him for $10. Let's see the masters."
"Ten dollars is the bid, won't someone bid $20?"
The crowd was becoming angry. They didn't want the picture of the son.
They wanted the more worthy investments for their collections.

The auctioneer pounded the gavel. "Going once, twice, SOLD for $10.00!"
A man sitting on the second row shouted, "Well, finally! Now let's get
on with the collection!" The auctioneer laid down his gavel. "I'm sorry, the auction is over." "What about all the paintings?"

"I am sorry. When I was called to conduct this auction, I was told of a
secret stipulation in the will. I was not allowed to reveal that
stipulation until this time. Only the painting of the son would be
auctioned. Whoever bought that painting would inherit the entire estate, including the paintings. Whoever gets the son gets it all!"

God gave His son 2,000 years ago to die on the cross. Much like the
auctioneer, His message today is: "The son, the son, who'll take the
son?" ... Because, you see, whoever takes the Son gets everything.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
