Hello my dear readers! ? I promised you to give an example how to manage your time if you??™re not an order-loving person. Here is one from an article of Gleb Arkhangelskii. I decided to begin our ezine with his articles and having found an example I think it??™s right to place it here. ? Time-management in case of sudden changesFirst example. A CEO and a joint owner of a medium-sized publishing house in St. Petersburg was offered an office of a deputy director in a big publishing house in Moscow. He expects to have much more duties; moreover he??™ll work in an unknown company with severe rivalry. He is an intuitional and tumultuary person, and the methods of classical time-management don't suit him. He says, ???I don??™t like to make notes, to calculate and plan for long time. Most of all I hate thorough and accurate notes with time-tables for a day, a week, a month, a year, a decade or life. All the future is written down and there is no place for a miracle???. What were we able to do? First, together we mastered some methods that allow us using personal time in chaotic and unpredictable circumstances, and adopted them according to particular situations needs and preferences of the client. Among classical methods the best result showed the method of priorities ranking. It helped to distinguish the objectively important works from the tasks, flooded him at his new working place and to weed out all the minor things. One of my methods, the method of limited chaos, turned out the most useful one. Due to this method my client, who hates all the paperwork, was not stuck in the huge amount of documentation and arranged an easy-to-use storage system for documents. Second; during our work, the client laid down several principles of increasing the efficiency of his own invention. Some of them were unexpected for me as I??™m a structure-minded person. For example, working with several tasks simultaneously, jumping from one thing to another is more convenient for him and helps him to get less tired. That??™s why he consciously began to use this working style. Such a heresy will terrify an upholder of classical time-management, as it is a violation of notorious and incontestable principles of personal effectiveness! It??™s worth mentioning that in other cases the recommendations could be completely opposite, i.e. working with big blocks instead of small redirections. But there are no contradictions, as in personal time-management. The common rules are less important than the personal style, it is developed by a client and is most convenient and effective for him. As a result, my client had a success in the new office. He got through and took over the control of a great amount of work. Now he is working on his personal effectiveness on his own. It??™s important to note that in spite of growing duties, time-management helped to save time for family. The floor is up to the client again, ???As the main result, I believed that such an intuitional person as I am, can make a career of a supervisor. I also began to use several methods in my work deliberately and routinely. I??™m going to practice new methods and skills which, I must notice, do not irritate me!??? I would like to ask you: what??™s the main idea of this abstract? What the author tries to tell us using this example? The answer is not so difficult, but I would like you to come to it YOURSELF. ? I invite every employee to subscribe to another ezine ???Is being employed a truly best choice???? Here you can find an alternative way of your life that I found not long time ago.
