PRAYER REQUESTS
THIS IS SOME PEOPLE
THAT MY HUSBAND KNOWS
I wanted to email everyone and give them an update on the twins and ask you to keep them and my family in your prayers.
As many of you know, having twins was an unexpected "extra" blessing. Lawson and I both knew it was God's plan and although we were nervous, we were soon excited and immersed in the wonders of twin pregnancy. Since week 15 (when we found out about the twins) things have been progressing normally. Four weeks ago we went to maternal fetal and baby A (Kimber) was growing well but Baby B (Keegan) was lagging behind about 9-10 oz. We prayed that all would be fine since twins typically are not the same weight at birth. When we went back to maternal fetal on this past Friday, Kimber (babyA) was 2#11oz and Keegan (babyB) was 2#6oz. She had caught back up to normal range. However, the doctors did find some area of concern at this visit.
Keegan (babyB) appears to have a heart defect that is sometimes associated with Down's. We will be going to a pediatric cardiologist on Friday to get a more clear diagnosis. We know for sure that Keegan has some type of defect. The doctors seems to think it may be atrioventricular canal defect or AVC defect. This means that she has a hole and possibly a malformation of the valve which allows oxygen rich blood to mix with oxygen poor blood thereby putting more pressure on her lungs and heart. This could lead to other problems if not corrected. However, the condition is repairable with open heart surgery and some patching of the heart. Our other concern is that the defect is associated with Downs. So, specifically these are our requests of you our friends and family:
1) That God will continue to allow our girls to grow healthy and strong and to continue to maintain a healthy weight
2) That Keegan's defect could be a partial AVC defect and not a complete AVC defect.
3) That Keegan be born healthy and not be in immediate danger due to any congenital heart defect she may have.
4) That if Keegan is in fact born with Down's that God make me His servant and give me and Lawson the strength to raise her as what she is....an unexpected "extra" blessing from God.
We love yall and can feel the prayers that have already been lifted up on our behalf. Please remember to keep us in your prayers. We will keep you updated.
