• Editor (with suite) needed....

We need an editor (or edit assistant with great editing skills) for an afternoon to make some tweaks on a short feature film. The film is pretty much finished and actually screened in London last week but there a couple of tweaks we need to make:

 - we need to take out a couple of music cues that don't quite work
 - we need to take out an echo on one of the scenes that doesn't quite work
 - we need to take down the brightness by about 5-10%
 - we need to make 3 or 4 scene cuts
 - we need to add in a title card with your (the editors) name on it

I can't see it taking more than a couple of hours to do. We have zero budget, but can offer a deferred payment, a bottle of wine, a nice lunch and a credit on a  really great film.

The film is called ‘The Basement’and tells the story of a small group of survivors trapped in a basement after a terrorist attack on a London office block. It's a co-pro independent production made by British director and Australian producer. It has so far received backing from Channel 4 Television and Sir Ian McKellen besides money and sponsorship from various UK & US companies.

Our temporary website is currently being built but do check out our My Space page
www.myspace.com/thebasementmovie

You can contact the director - Steve on 0423 147121 or the producer - John on 0415 778315

• Seeking sound mixer/recordist for short film

I have just completed editing my short film "The Curious Incident of the dog in the night time." The film is adapted from the award winning novel by Mark Haddon and is about an Autistic 15 year old who constantly finds himself in trouble despite the best of intentions.

There is about a days worth of sound tidying up to do though i.e. backgroung
noise is different between takes and no recording of extras muffled
voices...footsteps etc... I am looking for a sound mixer/ sound designer to
put work with me on this and to be honest it is a low budget film so while
it would be great to attract an experienced person to do this, I can't
afford to pay that person what they are worth.

Pls call Hugh Fenton on 0403547519

• Seeking crew for community TV show

the character's includes a very pretty and manipulative girl who controls
the other characters. The others are male characters, a geeky looking uni
student, a smart-arsey looking uni student, and an arogant, macho looking
one. We will be filming over a short period of time during mid August to
late September. This is an extremely low budget short film, and all work is
unpaid, but it is a funny and unusual script with some potential, and we
intend to put it into short film festivals upon its completion. Please
email: olz_15@hotmail.com or phone: 0411 883 676 if interested, and we will
be holding auditions

The ZTudio What IF? Award for Best Unproduced Screenplay aims to discover a writer and script with enormous potential. Screenwriters who have been enthusiastic and proactive in getting their screenplay developed, but have yet to be successful in getting their work from script to screen are invited to enter. The lucky winner of the ZTudio What IF? Award for Best Unproduced Screenplay will be flown to the country of their choice to meet with agents and/or producers to pitch their script.

Applicants for the ZTudio What IF? Award for Best Unproduced Screenplay are required to submit their feature film script and resume.  Applicants are also required to fill out an entry form which should include a synopsis and other details. First drafts will not be accepted.

Submission deadlines for both the Glendfiddich Independent Spirit If Award and the ZTudio What IF? Award for Best Unproduced Screenplay is Friday 28th July 2006.

The Inside Film Awards will fly the winners (if interstate) to accept their awards during the television broadcast (on SBS and SHOWTIME) of the glittering awards ceremony in front of a live audience of 1500 film industry professionals.

The Inside Film Awards will celebrate its 8th annual event this year on November 17th 2006, at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach Queensland.

Metro Screen congratulates Alec Morgan.

The Chauvel opened on Monday night with a gala celebration and screening of ‘Hunt Angels’ a film written and directed by Alec Morgan. Alec is a long time screenwriting tutor at Metro Screen and is currently teaching our Certificate IV in Screen students.

Set in the 1930's and 40's, ‘Hunt Angels’ is a non-fiction feature that exposes a dark and dangerous episode in Australia's cinema history. It is the true story of movie making outlaws, Rupert Kathner and Alma Brooks, who took on the powerful cinema conglomerates, a posse of police and the cultural cringe in their passionate pursuit to make Australian films.

Starring Ben Mendleson and Victoria Hill and produced by Sue Maslin this film was a wonderful way to open the newly renovated Chauvel and is set for release by Palace films October 6, 2006.
