REFLUX
Last Days
This is you last chance to get along to and see what our independent artists
in Sydney are working on.
Closing this Saturday at 4pm.
“Reflux”, a group exhibition presented by Anita Bacic, Tina
Fiveash and Sandra Landolt, reveals a fusion of recycled technologies
and digital media, re-examining overlooked details of our everyday lives.
In Anita Bacic’s video installation, clouds swirl within a sculptural
geodesic dome austerely constructed from cardboard triangles. An imaginary
world contained within a paper shell, a representation of dreams missed
from a time in the past where we would lie on the ground and stare at
the sky.
Tina Fiveash’s work is a series of stereoscopic portraits of a diverse
range of people. Using stereoscopic imaging technology the extreme close
ups of the portraits embody a strikingly realistic and eerie presence,
similar to wax figures in a waxwork museum.
Sandra Landolt is playing with the idea of “Reflux” as in
the medical term for any deviation from a healthy or normal condition.
Her video work displays in a playful way how a wind-up toy is fighting
time and her kinetic sculpture represent injured and discarded toys and
objects altered and adapted to a new function.
The exhibition offers an exciting range of diverse materials, forms and
genres.

WRITERS GROUP
Update
The Writers Group was formed out of the regular MPG meetings. It supports
new and emerging screen writers. We have regular meetings bi monthly on
a Monday at which writers bring their material in to be read and discussed.
It can be just an idea, and outline, or a completed script.
Currently we are in the process of getting industry professionals in to
speak to us about the art of screen writing and to discuss our scripts
in development. The first of these will be Alec Morgan,
writer/director of "Hunt Angels" soon to be released in cinemas.
He will be meeting with us on Monday 4th December. Following that will
be Gareth Tillson, a DOP who will discuss the importance
of script to cinematography, at a yet to be confirmed date.
Our next meeting will be at The London, Monday 23 10 2006 at 7:30pm upstairs
in the lounge area. As usual bring along any scripts/ideas you have for
discussion. Be prepared to be talkative and social, and have a drink or
two.
You must RSVP ASAP with Nolan Chow at me@nolanchow.com
or on 0401 752 885 so I know who is definitely
coming. This is so I can plan for the night.
