SCREEN WRITERS GROUP
Call For Members And Industry People
The Screen Writers Group (SWG) was formed out of the regular Metro Screen - Members Production Group (MPG) meetings. It supports new and emerging screenwriters. We are currently looking for new members who can come along regularly, as well as people who are working in the industry to come and talk to us about their experiences and pass on knowledge. They should become members to act in the role of mentors. We want enthusiastic people who will inspire a new generation of writers for the film/TV industry and can be committed to be around regularly.

We have regular meetings bi monthly on a Monday at the London Hotel at Balmain, at which writers bring their material in to be read and discussed. It can be just an idea, and outline, or a completed script. This is a networking, social and learning opportunity.

Currently we are in the process of getting industry professionals in to speak to us about the art of screen writing and to discuss our scripts in development. The first of these will be Alec Morgan, writer/director of "Hunt Angels" soon to be released in cinemas. He currently has 4 nominations in the AFI awards - Best Documentary, Best Direction in a documentary, Best Cinematography and AFI Special Effects awards. He will be meeting with us on Monday 4th December. Following that will be Gareth Tillson, a DOP who will discuss the importance of script to cinematography, at a yet to be confirmed date.
