PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
Starts March 24
While a producer will oversee a whole production, from concept development
to distribution and marketing, a production manager runs the production
phase of the film; the shoot itself. This accredited, in-depth course
will demystify the role of a production manager providing you with the
confidence and knowledge to manage any scale of production. Learn how
to manage all aspects of a shoot including how to communicate effectively
with the rest of the crew, how to monitor and control budgets and expenses,
how to put together call sheets and schedules and deal with contracts.
Students complete various practical exercises and work with real-life
examples to understand the roles of film or TV production. Because every
shoot involves unexpected challenges, such as technical problems, impossible
weather or unwell actors, the course covers how to deal with a crisis
and reschedule and negotiate to make sure that a shoot can proceed in
the face of difficulties. Participants receive comprehensive course notes
and production templates.
TUTOR Heather Oxenham
With over twenty years of experience on both commercial and independent
productions, Heather’s credits include Erskineville Kings, Kiss
or Kill, Floating Life and Sebastian and the Sparrow. Sexy Thing produced
by Heather was in the official selection for competition at Cannes Film
festival 2006.
On successful completion students receive a Statement of Attainment from
the Certificate IV in Screen.

ANTHOLOGY OF INTEREST FOR C31/TVS
TV Content Wanted – Unpaid
We're compiling the third series of “Anthology Of Interest"
for C31/TVS, compiling the second series of "Dark Carnival"
for Aurora Community Television. We present three or four short films
bookended by simple graphics. No hosts, no talking heads. As the title
implies, it doesn't necessarily have to be good, just interesting. There
is no entry form as such, just a release allowing us to screen your film/s
on our shows. No deadline. They have the rights to repeat our program
for three years, but individual films are not tied-up in any way. It's
just community TV, after all, and they are quite relaxed in comparison
to the major networks. We are screened on TVS at 9.30 pm thursday nights,
and on Aurora at 11.00 pm Monday nights. A blanket 'M' rating is fine
with us, even though most of the material is no where near as strong as
that.
Practically any digital format or disc will do, but we've found the best
pictures come off miniDV tape. Any material you supply can be returned
within a few weeks, accompanied by a compilation DVD of our early efforts.
Unfortunately, being community TV, there's no money involved.
