This award-winning documentary is the first film ever allowed to be made about life inside the Grande Chartreuse, the mother house of the legendary Carthusian Order, based in the French Alps. Director Philip Gr?ning waited the better part of two decades for permission to make the film, which was shot over six months on location. With no music except the chants in the monastery, no interviews, and no commentaries, Into Great Silence is a masterpiece of contemplative filmmaking that will take viewers to a meditative space as profound as that surrounding the monks’ daily routines. With sell-out sessions at the Sydney Film Festival in 2006, and gaining extensive international attention and acclaim, Into Great Silence is a fantastic achievement in documentary film-making that we are greatly looking forward to bringing to Australian audiences this May. Metro Screen and Dendy films are giving away double passes to an exclusive preview screening of the film on Wednesday 9th May @ 6:30pm at Dendy Newtown (261-263 King St, Newtown). Just email Katrina on k.beck@metroscreen.org.au with Silence in the subject line and be sure to include your full name, address and member number.
