BOMB HARVEST
Tutor Screening

Screening at the Sydney Film Festival this year is Metro Screen tutor Kim Mordaunt’s film.

A huge live US aircraft bomb is found behind a village school in Laos and straight-talking Australian bomb disposal specialist Laith Stevens arrives to check it out. He’s in the process of training a new ‘big bomb’ team, so reluctantly leaves it until the team is up to the task. Reluctant, because rural poverty has triggered a brisk illegal trade in bomb scrap metal that the local children are increasingly drawn to.

Bomb Harvest vividly depicts the consequences of war and the unimaginable bravery of those trying to clear up the mess.” – Jenny Neighbour, Program Manager, Sydney Film Festival

DENDY FILMS
Lucky Miles

Win a double pass to an exclusive preview screening of the film on Monday 9th July @ 6:30pm at Dendy Opera Quays (2 East Circular Quay, Sydney)

Lucky Miles is an Australian comedy based on a collection of true stories about refugees in Australia and will be released nationally in cinemas on July 19. What differentiates Lucky Miles from other films is that it deals with inherently political material in an accessible, entertaining and slightly absurdist fashion. It reduces the politics to the personal, providing insight and engagement through the defiance and humanity of its characters.

It's 1990 and an Indonesian fishing boat abandons Iraqi and Cambodian refugees in a remote part of the Western Australia. Whilst most are quickly caught by officials, three men with nothing in common but their misfortune and determination escape arrest and begin an epic journey into the heart of Australia. Pursued by an army reservist unit, our three heroes wander deeper into the desert, desperately searching for civilization amongst the stones of the Pilbara.

Lucky Miles. A bittersweet comedy about distance, difference and dud maps. Based on a collection of true stories.

All you need to do to win is email Katrina at k.beck@metroscreen.org.au with ‘Lucky Miles’ in the subject and be sure to include your full name, address and membership number.
