ENROLMENTS OPEN FOR METRO SCREEN COURSES Digital Micro Movie A hands-on introduction to filmmaking from start to finish. This course will Launch you into the production of a digital micro movie. Over two and a half days you will script and storyboard an idea shoot it with our digital video Cameras, then edit your work in our Final Cut Pro edit suites. Discover Your storytelling potential whilst rotating through key crew roles learning Basic screen language and tips on lighting and sound. A copy of your work will be supplied on DVD. 16 hrs | 1 Friday 6.15pm to 9.15pm and Saturday and Sunday 9.30am to 4.30pm START March 10 | 11 | 12 FINISH $480 members | $560 non-members Limited to 12 places | no prerequisites *DVD Production Learn the fundamentals of DVD Studio Pro to produce creative DVD menus for your next film, documentary, or show reel. On completion of this accredited course you will have the knowledge and skill to construct a DVD, from authoring to burning. These grounding skills are taught on DVD Studio Pro 2, utilising fundamental functions that remain the same across all proceeding versions. METRO SCREEN??™S MOBILE UNIT PRODUCED TV PROGRAMS ON THE WEEKEND Metro Screen??™s Mobile Unit produced television programs on the weekend. The Mobile Unit in conjunction with U.W.S. and TVS trained 10-year 12 students from Campbelltown Performing Arts High School in all aspects of video production. This three-day workshop and shoot took place over last weekend with the students producing a number of segments on Nanotechnology. These segments will be used in a new science show to air regularly on TVS [channel 31]. NEXT TUESDAY??™S FILM INDUSTRY PANEL @ METRO SCREEN Don't forget that this coming Tuesday the Members Production Group will be holding its first Industry Panel. This event will hear industry experts uncover crucial information about how to find funding, how to turn your initial idea into a viable concept and different business models to support filmmaking. Speakers include: - Valerie Allerton, Coordinator of the NSW Film and Television Office??™s Young Filmmakers Fund. - Peter Giles, Head of New Media at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) digital media expert and video artist. Peter??™s work has been exhibited in the top contemporary arts venues in London, New York and Sydney. - Marcus Gillezeau, writer, producer and director. Marcus??™ many credits include Cape Town to Cairo (ABC TV), Little Dove ??“ Big Voyage for the 7 Network and most recently the political documentary The Artist, the QC and the Refugee. - Enda Murray, founder of social change production company Virus Media and producer of Jammin??™ in the Middle E and Habibi Jammin??™, both recently screened on SBS. Previous credits include Road (SBS, Audience Favourite, Flickerfest 2001) and internet arts project Virtual Palestine. METRO SCREEN IS LOOKING FOR A WEBSITE & GRAPHIC DESIGN COORDINATOR The position is for one day a week (7.6 hrs) and is paid at $8400 pa ($42,000 pro rata). The contract period is six months, with an expectation that it will be extended to a permanent part-time position. The requirements of this position are: Update text and images on the website [www.metroscreen.org.au] Create new pages on the website when required Design graphics when necessary, which includes the design and delivery of Metro Screen general promotional materials, brochures, rate card, annual report and other advertising material and print material as they arise. The successful person would work with the Marketing Manager on implementing a new style guide for the organisation. COMPOSER WANTED FOR ROMANTIC COMEDY SHORT URGENT - Romantic Comedy Short Film "Backflip" Requires Composer "Backflip" is a 10min romantic comedy that was completed in mid-December 2005 as a graduating film of Metro Screen's Cert IV in Screen. We are a few days away from completing the picture edit of the "Director's Cut" and due to scheduling conflicts, we are urgently seeking a talented composer to score it for a late-March deadline. The original cut of "Backflip" is currently being screened on TVS community TV (Sydney), with an agreement in place to update that to the new version when it's delivered. Much interest has been expressed in the upcoming cut from various sources and it will be widely screened. This is a highly unique opportunity for the right person. You will be sent a script as well as an extensive brief to get you up to speed on what stage the project is in and what we're looking for in the score. From there you can be sent a DVD of the film to get you underway. EXTRAS WANTED : MIDDLE EASTERN POP PRINCESS MUSIC VIDEO Darine Hadchiti is one of Lebanon??™s rising pop stars. She is coming to Australia to film her latest music videos in mid-March; videos that will screen all over MTV in the Middle East. The production requires 40 extras over two days ??“ Friday 17th and Saturday 18th March. We are shooting on 35mm, and using all sorts of goodies like motion control for the VFX (for any tech-heads out there)??¦ All looks welcome! Age range from 15 ??“ 55. Details: Friday 17th, 12pm ??“ 7pm at Centennial Park. Saturday 18th, 7am ??“ 7pm at the Great Hall in the University of Sydney. These are both easily accessible locations with plentiful parking and close to public transport. These are unpaid positions, however, I guarantee a good time on set, a truckload of food, and a chance to work with a fun and professional crew.
