Jean Chatzky's "Money Tip" Don't Forget About Travel Agents
With the advent of the Internet, it may seem like travel agents are a thing of the past. After all, sites like Expedia.com and Travelocity seem to empower you with all the tools of a travel agent — for getting the best airfares and hotel prices, the Web can't be beat. But there are still some occasions when you should confer with a travel agent. For instance:

1. If your trip is complicated, a travel agent can help you with pricing and coordinate multiple legs or destinations.
2. If you're buying a package, a travel agent usually has some wisdom to offer. Sure, you can hunt on the Web, but agents sell 90 percent of tours and packages. And they often have a lot of insider information, such as how to maximize your vacation time and get the best values.
