December 2007 Issue

Hello One Strokers:

If you are receiving this the second time, forgive the double post.  Zinester is having difficulties posting my newsletter again and I don't believe this was sent out to everyone on 11/27.  I am doing research on starting a Yahoo Group for my subscribers.  Please let me know if you would like to belong to a group that you could post your ideas, pix of your paintings, ask questions & receive answers as well as getting the news and class info that is posted by me.  Thanks.

My wish to you in this holiday season is that you take some time out of the hustle and bustle of church and shopping and parties and do something nice for yourself.  Start a new painting, paint a few ornaments or cards, knit, crochet or sew something, or sit down with your scrapbooking supplies and make a few pages.  When you are doing something you love, like painting or needlecraft, time seems to melt away, along with all your troubles and aches and pains.  Don't forget to take time for yourself.  Have a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and creative new year.

Old Art & Art Supplies Needed:  Put Unwanted Art to Work Assisting Local Youth This Holiday Season

Do you have old framed art that you no longer need?   Or art supplies that are cluttering up your garage?  Donate your unwanted art and art supplies to The Lake County Art Center!  We will turn these gifts into donation monies for youth-assisting Lake County community programs.  Make a difference in a child's life.  Give the gift of art instruction.  Drop off your old prints, or dusty garage art to the Lake County Art Center November 27 - 30 between 12 - 6pm or December 1 from 10am - 2pm and help someone this season with art!   A map to the Center may be found by visiting www.LakeCountyArtCenter.com  or call (352) 536-6278.  Lake County Art Center - "Where Art Meets Life!"

ART Classes on TV:  In the past, public TV has been the main source of most art shows on TV.  Well, now there is a new network, launched in September, called the VAN Network (Visual Arts Network).  It has been picked up by Sky Angel and hopes are that Direct TV, Dish Network or Comcast will zero in on it and also start carrying the programming.  But, for now, you can watch it on your computer by clicking on www.visualartsnetwork.tv  (remember to type in .tv not .com)   Then click on "Watch Live" under the small TV Screen.  It should jump to a larger screen.  Remember:  This is on your computer NOT your TV!  Let me know how you like it.

Art Contest Entry:   Well, I entered my first art contest!   I sent in my painting of the Citrus Tower for the 4th annual Artsploration art contest.  I made it through the first round of judging, which means that my piece will be on display for purchase at the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association’s holiday gala during its silent auction; this year’s gala will be held on Saturday, December 15 at the J.W. Marriott World Center in Orlando.   Wish me luck; I'll keep you all informed as to how I do.

Giftware and Paintings at Lake County Art Center:  Remember that I now have wall space for my canvas paintings and shelf space for my giftware items at the Lake County Art Center, 202 S. Hwy. 27 in Minneola.  Please stop in and see my paintings, prints, and gift items and check out all the other artists work, too.  If you are looking for a unique gift item, the Art Center is a great place to buy one.

Face Painting:

I attended a face painting jam in Orlando in November.  There were 7 face painters in attendance, including a lady who was brand new to the art, and about 4 models.  We brought our paints and practiced different faces and networked with each other.  It was a fun experience.  If you wish to be put on my list to attend the next jam, please email me at acamara1@cfl.rr.com

Here's a good suggestion for a Christmas Gift.  Tell them to buy you the Face Painting Manual and/or the Beginners Video.  Start learning to paint faces today.  Earn extra money and have fun doing it?  Become a Face Painter!  Birthday parties will earn you $150 - $175 for a 2 hour gig.  Purchase the same manual that I use to teach my seminars.  You will have fun painting the faces shown in the manual and the thousands of others that are to be found by going to the sites mentioned in the Resources section.  You will also learn what to use for paint, tools, glitter and bling and where to buy them; practice strokes; the proper hygiene; how to set up your kit for a party or an event; how to start a Face Painting business; good books and videos; and many other tips and techniques, including many of the signs that I use.  Introductory price for this E-manual is $20.00.   The Beginners Video is offered at the discount price of $21 plus $5 shipping.  Buy it with PayPal on my site or contact me to pay with either check or credit card.   www.picturetrail.com/butterflykissesstudio   I'll email it to you right away.     Check out the the Face Painting Album

Schedule of Upcoming "Big Brush" Workshops:

Marjorie Harris Clark Seminar:

The Marjorie Harris Clark seminar is over and what beautiful guardian angels and roses were painted by everyone.  Marjorie gave everyone her special attention and helped us to learn a new version of the rose, the Limoges rose, that is featured in so many antiques.  Marjorie's background is in antiques, as she and her husband used to own an antique shop.  She was intrigued by the Limoges roses and learned to paint them, starting a new career for herself in hand decorated furniture and wall murals.  We are glad that she has decided to teach her method.  If you missed this seminar, make sure to save up money for the next one.  I'm sure that we will have Marjorie back.    Here's a message I received from Marjorie:    I finally uploaded the pictures of my Florida Seminar. The
projects came out so well and everyone had such fun. The Guardian Angels that were painted are so beautiful..  here's the link:  http://imageevent.com/harrisclarkroses/photosofpreviousseminars     To see a short video clip of Marjorie painting her roses, check out  Marjorie Harris Clark on You Tube
