DAILY WEATHER REPORT
from Pitsford Hall Weather Station
released at 07:52 AM on Tuesday, 04 December 2007
General Situation across the United Kingdom
A ridge of high pressure is giving way to a deep area of low pressure south-west of Iceland. This will drive frontal systems eastwards across the UK over the next few days. In fact, cyclonic conditions look set to prevail throughout the remainder of this week.
The Local Area Forecast for Northamptonshire
Today is likely to remain rather cloudy and, although dry at the moment, we can expect a run of showers to make to eastwards across the county later this morning and through the afternoon. The wind, a gentle southerly at first, will tend to strengthen through the day becoming a strong south-westerly by this evening. Given the wind direction it will be a mild day with highs reaching 13C and overnight lows holding up at around 10C. A band of heavier rain is expected to work towards the county from the west later in the night.
The Outlook for the next few days
A wet start to the day tomorrow with the strong south-westerly wind remaining. However, the rain during the morning should clear to showers by the afternoon and as it does so the wind will tend to veer westerly and ease ever so slightly. Highs tomorrow will reach 12C falling overnight to 6C. Following a dry night with lighter winds, further outbreaks of rain will spread across the county from the west on Thursday coupled again with a strengthening south-westerly wind. This rain is likely to be more persistent lasting pretty much all day and being quickly followed by a further band of rain from the north-west during the evening and overnight. Highs of 12C falling overnight to 7C. A better prospect on Friday; there still could be some rain around first thing, but this will clear to sunnier
spells later. It will feel cooler though in the brisk north-westerly wind.
