DAILY WEATHER REPORT

from Pitsford Hall Weather Station

released at 09:43 AM on Saturday, 08 December 2007

General Situation across the United Kingdom

Low pressure centred to the north-west of Ireland will track very slowly across the UK today driving frontal systems eastwards with associated wind and rain.

The Local Area Forecast for Northamptonshire

Rain has very quickly arrived in the county this morning following a dry night and is likely to develop becoming heavy at times through the morning before clearing to showers this afternoon and evening. Accompanying the rain will be a freshening south or south-westerly wind with some potentially damaging gusts later this afternoon and into the evening. Highs today will reach 10C falling overnight to 4C which should see some drier weather for a time.

The Outlook for the next few days

Yet more rain will arrive in the county during the course of tomorrow morning, again the rain could be heavy at times, but the main feature will be the strengthening west or north-westerly wind. The county though should escape the severe gales likely along the south coast. The rain should clear to showers through the afternoon. Highs of 8C falling overnight to 3C. As the low moves off into the North Sea on Monday it will begin to draw in colder northerly air. Monday should remain dry with highs during the day reaching 6C, although overnight lows are expected to fall sharply to -4C. A cold raw day on Tuesday with highs just reaching 5C, although some good spells of sunshine should break through. Overnight lows will fall to 1C.
