Visit Barry's New Website - The Mind of Christ COMMANDS WORTH KEEPING And this is his commandment: We must
believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he
commanded us. Those who obey God's commandments live in fellowship with him, and
he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Holy Spirit lives in us.
??“ 1 John 3:23-24 (NLT)
I remember as a kid wondering why there were so many rules for
everything. ???Do this??¦don??™t do that??¦never forget to??¦line up this
way??¦quiet in the hallways??¦etc??¦??? Some of the rules made sense ??“
???Look both ways before crossing the street,??? but others seemed really
dumb ??“ ???Don??™t go swimming until thirty minutes after you??™re done
eating.??? The rules that seemed stupid are the ones I usually didn??™t obey.
God has given us certain rules, or commands, that we are expected to live
in obedience to. I??™ve discovered that none of them fall into the ???dumb???
category. In fact, they all have a purpose, even if I don??™t understand it at
the present time. For instance, God commands us to believe in His Son and to
love other people. And what is the result of keeping these commands? We can rest
in the assurance that we are walking in fellowship with Him. The Holy Spirit who
indwells us directs us to a life lived in obedience to the Heavenly Father.
God??™s commands are reasonable, achievable, and eternally beneficial. |
