A GREATER SPIRIT

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won your fight with these false prophets, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. ??“ 1 John 4:4 (NLT)

            Have you ever known Christians who cringe in fear at the very thought of coming under spiritual attack? It is as if they have no trust whatsoever in the power of God to overcome the assault that is coming against them. Even worse are those believers who do not even know that they are under attack at all. They go through life never cognizant of the fact that there is a very real enemy coming against them who wants nothing more than to take them down.

            John writes to some dear children of God who not only understood that there was a battle going on, but they withstood by the power of the Holy Spirit and won the war. To understand victory we need to be well aware of just who are enemy is, and what resources we have at our disposal. Our foe is anyone or anything that takes away from, teaches against, or makes any attempt to water down the fact of the deity of Jesus Christ. Anyone who does this has the spirit of antichrist. Yet there is another Spirit who is much more powerful ??“ the Holy Spirit of God. He is with us, in us, and working on our behalf. If we rely on Him, no false prophet or false teaching will have a chance against us. We stand victorious, not because of who we are, but because of who God is. We do not retreat from battle, but confidently approach it knowing that with the Spirit on our side, we cannot lose.

PRAYER THOUGHT: Father, equip me to do battle.
