Arise,
O LORD! Rescue me, my God! Slap all my enemies in the
face! Shatter the teeth of the wicked! Victory comes
from you, O LORD. May your blessings rest on your people.
??“ Psalms 3:7-8 (NLT)
When I was a kid I used to go down in our
basement with my friends, put on boxing gloves and have
makeshift tournaments to see which of us was the
toughest. We didn??™t have any rules, we just continued to
fight until one of the combatants decided to give up.
While we were just kids, I can remember getting hit hard
enough that I blacked out more than once. What would it
have been like if we??™d had an adult come down and box
one of us? It certainly would not have been a fair
fight.
When the enemies of God come against His
children, they need to realize that they aren??™t facing
an opponent of equal ability. We have God on our side,
ready to step into the ring and slap our enemies around
if necessary. While David prayed that this would happen
in the physical realm, the application for us most often
takes place in the spiritual. When Satan comes against
us, whether in person, or through his legions, we should
feel free to call upon God to come to our rescue. We
should never fight the enemy on equal terms when we have
the Creator of the universe on our side, ready to step
in and gain us the victory.

QUESTIONS:
1) What
enemy is rearing its head against you today?
2) Have
you asked God to step into the ring? Have you relied on
His power to see you through? |
