SAY ???NO??? TO THE DEVIL

Dear children, don't let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it is because they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows they belong to the Devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy these works of the Devil. ??“ 1 John 3:7-8 (NLT)

I can remember as a kid reading Highlights for Children magazine. There was a feature I used to turn to called ???Goofus and Gallant.??? A situation would be portrayed where an ethical decision had to be made. Goofus always set the bad example by making the wrong choice, while Gallant always chose what was best. A very similar situation was sometimes depicted on some Flintstones cartoons where Fred Flintstone, faced with an ethical dilemma would discover an Angel Fred on one of his shoulders and a Devil Fred on the other, both trying to convince him to follow.

In our lives we are faced with a very real decision in the midst of the spiritual battle that is going on between that which is righteous and that which is not. It is a battle for our very souls, and the choice that we make determines who it is that we will follow. When we choose sin we are in reality choosing for the devil. When we choose to follow righteousness we are making a choice for Jesus Christ. Jesus has empowered us to say ???no??? to the devil and ???yes??? to Him by giving us the strength and ability to follow Him in every decision.

PRAYER THOUGHT: Lord, I choose to follow You!
