Israel’s Hamas predicament: shoot or talk
Tobias Buck - Financial Times - Re-conquering Gaza would mark an embarrassing reversal of the government’s policy of “disengagement” from the strip. Israel pulled all of its settlers and soldiers out of Gaza three years ago, not least because it found that the cost of staying was far higher than the benefits of maintaining a presence in the strip.

 Israel Says `No`
Ran HaCohen - antiwar.com - Obviously, the true reason not to seriously negotiate – Israel already says the end of the year is much too early to strike a deal even with Abu Mazen! – is that Israel is unwilling to end the occupation. Not only land and water are at stake, but more than 6 percent of all Israeli exports (excluding diamonds) go to the occupied Palestinian market, about $2 billion a year, more than to France and Italy combined.

Hebron: vast instant confiscations with no time given for appeal
Ma`an / Haaretz - Gen. Gadi Shamni, military commander of the West Bank, issued a military order on Tuesday confiscating all the lands and buildings belonging to the Islamic Charitable Society and the Muslim Youth Society in Hebron. Offices and schools have already been ransacked; shopowners ordered to leave their rented space until April 1.

Popular campaign to pressure Hamas and Fatah to reconcile
Ma`an - "We have proposed a plan for nationalist reconciliation through pursuing the origins of the conflict. Many legal experts and specialists in the Palestinian affairs from Arab countries have participated to the plan, and 250 thousand copies have been prepared to be distributed in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip."

Ramon calls for evacuation of settlers east of security fence
Barak Ravid - Haaretz - "When a right-wing government headed by the Likud and Shas determined the route of the fence, it decided for all intents and purposes that everything beyond the fence will not be under Israel`s sovereignty," Ramon said. (...) Ramon urged Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to use his speech at Annapolis as a platform to announce his support for such an initiative [but even that minimal gesture was too much for Olmert.ed]

Olmert doubts deal feasible in 2008
Jerusalem Post - The end 2008 may not be a feasible deadline for a peace deal with the Palestinians, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Tuesday. (...) On Monday PA President Mahmoud Abbas warned that if the Bush administration didn`t make good on its pledge to "make 2008 the year to broker peace, then there will never be any future chances to achieve this goal."

Widow of Mughniyah tells press in Tehran: Syria to blame for killing
Haaretz - Rumors abounded in the months prior to Mughniyah`s death regarding a rift between himself and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. The rumors were that Mughniyah was attempting to take over command of the militant organization. Mughniyah headed Hezbollah`s operations branch serving in a role similar to chief of staff.

Something bad is happening to us
Haaretz -- Something bad is happening to us, they are saying in the Kfir Brigade. That "something" is the occupation

Kosovo and the question of Palestine
Ali Abunima - Electronic Intifada - Imposed partitions have one thing in common: they are always justified by their advocates with the claim that though perhaps less than ideal, once the initial unpleasantness passes, everything will settle down into a new normality. As Israel`s founding prime minister David Ben-Gurion notoriously said of the Palestinian refugees six decades ago, "the old will die and the young will forget."
