Who needs a
ceasefire?
Here

by different sources - posted by TOI-staff on Occupation Magazine. (We did
the updating today but OM is updated daily, each day of the
week by a different editor. For earlier articles use the powerfull

Hamas
maintaining the cease-fire Haaretz Editorial - Hamas has kept its
commitment thus far. Islamic Jihad broke it after Israel killed a few of its
members in the West Bank; it then adopted the cease-fire again. The latest
Qassam was reportedly fired by a Fatah-affiliated group, which apparently
strived to undermine belief in Hamas` ability to control things on the ground.
Alongside all this, Hamas` public effort to fully keep its commitment is
evident. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=27848
Israeli
army shuts down six Hamas-affiliated associations in Nablus Ma`an -
The Nablus Mall has 50 shops and offices, including the Al-Itiman company, which
has a capital of 4 million Jordanian Dinars (5.64 million US dollars). Israel
says this company funds Hamas and `encourages terrorism.` The head of the Mall
administration Adli Yayish has been in Israeli custody for a year and a half,
accused of being affiliated to Hamas. The Israeli army commander in Nablus
issued an order that anyone who now enters the Nablus Mall will be imprisoned
for five years ( sic! ). The order will come into effect on August 15.
The Israeli army issued a statement transferring the ownership of the Nablus
Mall to the Israeli authorities from August 18. http://www.kibush.co.il/edit_article_top.asp?art=27847

news of July 8, 2008 from the Palestinian media IMEMC - Troops
kidnap nine residents in the West Bank // Explosion kills two in southern Gaza
Strip // Explosion hits the vehicle of Palestinian Attorney General in Ramallah
// Detainee freed after spending more than one-third of his life in detention //
PFLP leader: “We need to reconsider the truce deal; situation in Gaza did not
change” // DFLP: “Ending international division and holding compressive talks, a

Don`t
say we didn`t know Amos Gvirtz - The settlers` attacks increase on
Fridays and Saturdays. According to the El Ja`abaris, calling the police does
not help. The police always listen to the settlers... http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=27849
Palestinian
farmers demand access to fields Tovah Lazaroff - Jerusalem Post - As
a veteran farmer, Shareef Omar Khaled knows that the heat of a summer day is no
time to be out in the fields working in his grape vines and cactus fields. But
he has no choice, given that he is a Palestinian who lives in the village of
Jayyus in Samaria, outside the security barrier, while his 175 dunams of
agriculture fields remain on the Israeli side. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=27845
A
binational reality Akiva Eldar - Haaretz - By coincidence, or
perhaps not, both murderers involved in attacks in Jerusalem came from
neighborhoods on the dividing line, where residents` lives have been changed
completely by the fence, which was drawn short-sightedly and without
sensibility. The wall enveloping Jerusalem, whose length totals 170 kilometers -
more than the distance between that city and Haifa - has cut off most Jerusalem
Arabs, primarily those living west of the fence, from their brethren in the West
Bank. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=27843
Awarded
abroad - humiliation and worse upon returning.
Gaza journalist Mohammed Omer reports Amy
Goodman - Democracy Now - “You are a crazy man.” And I just kept quiet and
listened to what he’s going to say. And then he said, “Is there anyone who has
been to the Netherlands, to France, to Sweden, to Greece and to the United
Kingdom and come back to Gaza Strip? Gaza is a dirty place. Why do you come back
to Gaza? Gaza is a dirty place, and the people there are dirty. Why do you come
to live in such a place, where there is no electricity, there is no light, and
there is darkness, and there is shortages of fuel, and there is lots of
difficulties? Why don’t you live in France, instead?” http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=27842
Who
will blink first? Alex Fishman - Ynet - When the time comes for the
Americans to pull out the weapon of military madness, what’s more convenient
than Israel? (...) we are holding back those crazy Israelis, and we cannot keep
on restraining them for long. The problem is that these types of threats have
their own dynamics, and they may end up fulfilling themselves. What will happen
if the Iranians do not blink? [N.B.: It`s a mainstream Israeli military
commentator who is doing the warning - ed] http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=27844
Let
Mordechai Go Free! Ad in Haaretz - “Everyone has the right to leave
any country, including his own (...)”. (Article 13.2 – The Universal Declaration
of Human Rights), was signed by 11 Nobel Laureates. Published July
7, on the eve of the court session which may bring nuclear whistleblower
Mordechai Vanunu back to prison on the charge of "speaking to foreigners".

Health
Against Wall at Ni`lin PHR-IL - A mobile clinic with a variety of
doctors, is announced 12.7 as part of the ongoing struggle against the building
of the Wall on the village’s lands [which makes sense considering that
occupation deprives, and providing is fighting against it [ed]]. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=27840
