Well, the raffle for the Florida State Decoy/Gun finished this past weekend at Bass Pro Shops.  Florida State Volunteer Chairman Len Schwenneker and Florida Regional Director Brett Bainter drew the winning tickets and the winners are:

South Florida New Volunteer Fun Shoot Bring-a-Buddy

The purpose of this fun shoot is to bring new volunteers into local South Florida Chapters. The bring-a-buddy theory is for current DU volunteers to bring a buddy, a new volunteer, into the DU network. Our DU chapters need new volunteers that bring new ideas and new contacts that are the foundation of DU’s growth in North America.  This fun shoot will be a 75 target course on the famous Deer Creek range.
Lunch will be provided!  The cost per shooter is $40.00 with prizes for top shooters to be awarded.  To sign up contact: Mike Mezrah or Brett Bainter


PROPOSED 2006-2007 MIGRATORY GAME BIRD AND CROW HUNTING SEASONS

The following information was taken from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission website.

APPROVED Rail and Common Moorhen Season

Season: September 1 - November 9
Shooting Hours: One-half hour before sunrise to sunset
Bag Limits (daily/possession):
Clapper & King rails - 15/30 (singly or in aggregate)
Sora & Virginia rails - 25/25 (singly or in aggregate)
Common Moorhen - 15/30
Purple Gallinule - NO OPEN SEASON

APPROVED Special September Duck Season

Season: September 23-27
Shooting Hours: One-half hour before sunrise to sunset Legal to Take: Wood Duck, Green-winged Teal, Blue-winged Teal
Bag Limit (daily/possession): 4/8. The 4-duck daily bag limit shall consist of no more than two wood ducks.

APPROVED Limited Canada Goose Season

September Season: September 2-27
Regular Season, First Phase:  November 18-26
Regular Season, Second Phase:  December 1 – January 30

Canada geese may be taken only in the Florida waters of Lake Seminole in Jackson County that are south of SR 2, north of the Jim Woodruff Dam and east of CR 271.

Shooting Hours: One-half hour before sunrise to sunset.
Bag Limit (daily/possession): 5/10 Taking or attempting to take brant or geese (except as described above) is prohibited.

APPROVED Mourning and White-Winged Dove Seasons

Season:
First Phase - October 7-30
Second Phase - November 11-26
Third Phase - December 9 - January 7
Shooting Hours:
First Phase - 12 Noon to sunset
Second & Third phases - One-half hour before sunrise to sunset
Bag Limit (daily/possession): 12/24 (singly or in aggregate)

APPROVED Snipe Season

Season: November 1 - February 15
Shooting Hours: One-half hour before sunrise to sunset
Bag Limit (daily/possession): 8/16

APPROVED Woodcock Season

Season: December 16 - January 14
Shooting Hours: One-half hour before sunrise to sunset
Bag Limit (daily/possession): 3/6

APPROVED Crow Season

Season: August 12 - October 29, 2006 (Saturdays and Sundays only) and

November 11, 2006 - February 18, 2007.
Shooting Hours: One-half hour before sunrise to sunset
Bag Limit: No bag or possession limits.

PROPOSED Waterfowl and Coot Seasons

Season:
First Phase - November 18-26
Second Phase - December 9 - January 28
Youth Waterfowl Days – February 3-4
Shooting Hours: One-half hour before sunrise to sunset

As of the 2006-2007 season, light (snow [including blue] and Ross’) geese may be taken statewide.

Bag Limit (daily/possession): Ducks -- 6/12; no more than one black duck, one mottled duck, one fulvous whistling-duck, one pintail, one canvasback, two redheads, two wood ducks, two scaup, four scoters, and four mallards (no more than two of which may be females).  All other species of duck (except harlequin ducks) may be taken up to the six-duck daily limit.  Light geese – 15/no possession limit.  Taking or attempting to take brant or geese (except as described above) is prohibited.

Coots -- 15/30

Mergansers: Daily limit 5, only two of which may be a hooded merganser; possession limit 10, only four of which may be hooded mergansers.
