So July is when things finally slow down a little for us, and now we're getting to do some final re-working of the movie, go to some less stressful film festivals and generally catch up on all kinds of important things which we've been neglecting in the mad rush. Things like:

Revamping our little Girls Rock! store. We've rebuilt the page somewhat, and now we have two different designs to choose from and a whole bunch of new kids' sizes. Once again, the crew at Plazm Media has done a wonderful job on our fiery new shirt. Be sure to check it out and get something for the little rocker in your life:

It hasn't been an entirely news-free month, though. Our trailer on You Tube was put on the front page of You Tube and we were deluged with views of the trailer and page views for our site. While all the attention was cool, we also had a lot of negative comments about girls playing music and stuff on the you tube trailer, which was kinda depressing. But also reminded us why the work of the camp is so important! There's a lot of negative attitudes out there, and fortunately they were in the minority as we also had lots of supportive comments and people arguing with the haters about sexism. In fact, if you go to our You Tube trailer you'll see that we left a lot of the negative comments up there so you could see how well people countered them. Just be forewarned, there are some ignorant and hurtful things on there.

The end result has been positive, however, as our general web traffic to www.girlsrockmovie.com has increased a lot. Which means all the great stuff written by girls and campers and staff is getting read by that many more people! If you've been contemplating writing something, or joining up on the site, this is a great time to do it. At the very least, check out what the girls are saying...it's heartbreaking, funny, inspiring and wonderful all at the same time.

For those of you in Maine or nearby, we'll be playing the Maine International Film Festival on July 13 and 15. It's in Waterville.

It looks like we may also be on national TV soon! Won't say much more than that until all is firmed up, but keep yer ears peeled and eyes tuned.
