| Welcome to a brand new year! Imbolc is just around the corner (February 1) and serves as the "theme" of our special offer for this month. Yes, it's time to "clean house!" This being a major election year, that phrase has even more meaning than usual. So between sweeping out cobwebs and negative energy with your besoms, getting your new candles consecrated, and re-dedicating yourself to your spiritual path, get out there and vote! In This Issue: 1. Lucky Number Eight 2. Mercury Retrograde 3. Days We Will Be Closed 4. Directions and Hours 5. Next Issue 6. Information and Credits | |
Lucky Number Eight | In Feng Shui, 8 is an extremely auspicious and important number. For instance, it is said to bring good fortune to a business if it has one or more eights in its street number, or if the digits of the street number add up to eight. This year, the Chinese will official start their opening ceremonies for the Olympic games at 8:08 on August 8, 2008
to take advantage of the positive energy (chi) of eight.
In western Numerology, the number 8 is also connected to financial and material prosperity, though there may be ups and downs prior to finding lasting success. | |

Mercury Retrograde Cycle
| Mercury begins its first retrograde cycle of the year on January 28 in the sign of Aquarius, continuing until it goes direct again on February 19. Of course, we are already in the "shadow" of this retrograde, which started January 19, when Mercury reached the position where it will be again once it goes direct. It will last until March 10, when Mercury returns to the same point it began its retrograde journey. During this shadow period, the retrograde effect strengthens as retrograde approaches and declines as it moves farther away from the end of the retrograde. At Magickalystics, we're already feeling the shadow of Mercury's retrograde which will begin on January 28, and, as retrogrades go, we don't think this is really a bad one. Mercury's retrograde in Aquarius means this period is a time of connection, reconnection, and ideas. We took off a week this month to recharge our batteries and reflect on the lessons learned in this past year. Now back at the store, we are reviewing our plans for the coming year. That will mean some changes in the coming months, but our overall goal is still the same-- to make Magickalystics a dependable resource of tools to help you on your spritual journey. | |
