Ten Reasons Why Conservatives Love George W. Bush By: Peggy Butler

10. Great Articulation. During his press conferences I??™ve yet to hear the president mispronounce a word or desecrate the English language. Moreover, I??™ve never heard him utter anything of a moronic nature. Well, except for the time when he said "I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family.??? And lets not forget he also stated, ???I am honored to shake the hand of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut off by Saddam Hussein.??? On second thought, it??™s clear that we have to deviate from the articulate angle. What a pity!

9. He is so charismatic. Whenever I see the president, visions of Howdy Doody spring to mind. For those 30 and under, Howdy Doody is the puppet from a 1950s children??™s TV show. And just like Howdy, Bush too has an exaggerated smile. Another similarity the two share is that they??™re both stiff as a board. Which explains why the president??™s decision to invade Iraq was equivalent to that of a puppet on a string.

8. His patriotism. Unlike some young men who opted not to go to Vietnam, Bush served his country by enrolling in the National Guard. And as soon as those military records are found, just like the weapons of mass destruction he adamantly refers to, everyone will appreciate this man??™s love for his country. What a man, What a man!

7. He always tells the truth. That??™s right, our president is so honest you can believe everything he says and then some. And for anyone who disagrees with him, they are depicted as "liberals with a penchant for bashing his administration." Case in point: If Bush says John Kerry is too progressive to be elected president it??™s probably true. After all, this is the man who told us umpteenth times that Saddam Hussein has ties to Al-Qaeda. And on that note I can honestly say the president gives new meaning to the phrase talking loud and saying nothing.

6. His sense of humor. For instance, whenever the president comes on my TV screen, I automatically burst into laughter. Yeah, that silly grin and lumbering walk gets me every time. Perhaps, if he stopped flashing that bogus smile the laughter would stop. Or perhaps not.

5. His Moral Fiber. Oh man what a saint. Besides doing a ???little drinking??? in his youth, this guy is so morally pure I want to tell the whole world. I bet you won??™t catch an intern kissing this president. The question is, why would they want to? Besides he??™s too busy extolling his role as a ???war president.??? Aw, why can??™t we all be this perfect?

4. His intelligence. Honestly, have we ever had a commander-in-chief who was so smart? Gee, can you smell ingenious? Don??™t worry, he probably can??™t either.

3. Compassion. He has it in droves, especially when targeting special interest groups and organizations. For example, lauding the immorality of same sex marriage to secure his conservative voter base. That??™s right George, when you fail to scare everyone with your terror alerts, the next step is to play the family values card.

2. Honesty: Oh how can I say it? Let me count the ways. I would love to, but time doesn??™t permit me to engage in such fantasies.

1. Major Insomnia Reliever: Within seconds after seeing or hearing the president, I quickly fall asleep. So who needs over the counter sleep aids when George W. Bush is available? According to sources who requested anonymity, the president is so boring, he would make a dead man rise from his grave. ZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

And there you have it, 10 reasons why conservatives love George W. Bush. And if you can??™t figure out the logic behind this piece, you are truly an admirer. Now, what does that say about you?

New Energy Bill: Reducing Our Dependence on Foreign Oil
By: Sam Subramanian

Growing transportation requirements combined with declining domestic oil production have led to burgeoning oil imports. Rising oil prices are having an adverse impact on the U.S. economy as evident from recent economic data and stock market performance. We need a responsible energy plan which will balance our transportation requirements with the necessity to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
Rising Oil Prices.
Oil prices have been on a roll this year. As of August 10, crude oil prices have climbed over 45% since the start of 2004. A barrel of West Texas Intermediate recently recorded its all time high of $45.04 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. And this has happened despite the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries increasing its oil output.

Earlier in the year, the run up in oil prices was attributed to surging demand for petroleum products due to a strong global economy. Then it was the unrest in Venezuela and Nigeria.
Concerns on security of oil supplies have heightened more recently. Added to the pipeline disruptions in Iraq are kidnappings of foreign workers in the Middle East.

Yukos, the Russian oil company??™s tax evasion dispute has taken center stage currently. With a production rate of 1.7 million barrels a day (mmbd), Yukos is Russia??™s largest oil producer.
While the underlying factors behind the dramatic increase in the price of oil this year are a combination of all the above, the impact is hardly comforting.
Weakening Economy.

Higher oil prices that work like an added tax have the effect of holding down hiring, consumer spending, and corporate profits.

The July jobs report that was released by the Labor Department on August 6 was a disappointment. The U.S. economy added a mere 32,000 to the non-farm payrolls, the lowest monthly addition this year. The rate of employment growth is slowing as business confidence appears to be undermined by rising oil prices. High oil prices are also taking the bite out of consumer spending.

By some economists??™ estimates, every $10 rise in the price of oil knocks 0.5% off of GDP growth and adds about the same amount to inflation. The equity markets have been fixated with the trend in oil prices and have relentlessly spiraled lower since late June. On August 6, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9,815.33, its lowest level since Nov. 28 after losing more than 300 points over the last two sessions. The technology heavy Nasdaq Composite Index is down over 11% since the start of the year.
The Root Cause: Transportation Relies on Foreign Oil.

A combination of declining domestic oil production and increasing oil consumption has left the U.S. increasingly dependent on foreign oil.

The U. S. Department of Energy??™s Energy Information Administration states that domestic oil production in 2002 was 5.8 mmbd, about 36% lower than the 9.0 mmbd produced in 1985. The total use of petroleum products on the other hand has grown from 15.2 mmbd in 1985 to 19.3 mmbd in 2002.

The lion??™s share of oil consumption stems from transportation needs. In 2002, the transportation sector accounted for about 68% of total petroleum use with gasoline accounting for two-thirds of the petroleum consumed in the transportation sector.

U.S. net oil imports have grown from 4.3 mmbd in 1985 to 10.4 mmbd in 2002. Net oil imports as a percent of U. S. petroleum product use has risen from 28% in 1985 to 54% in 2002.

Based on Sandia National Laboratories and U. S. DOE/EIA forecast, an additional 7.5 mmbd of oil and petroleum products will have to be imported by 2020 to bridge the gap between growing consumption and falling domestic oil production. In 2020, U.S. oil production will supply less than 30% of U.S. oil needs.

The Energy Bill: Long-Term Plan for Energy Security.
The picture the current events paint as a preview of the future is cause for concern.

On August 6, Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry outlined a $30-billion, 10-year plan to veer the U. S. towards energy independence. The plan includes tax breaks and incentives for carmakers and buyers, coal producers and alternative fuels research. President Bush responded saying Kerry's proposals mimic much of what Bush had already proposed but is stalled in Congress.

It will not be adequate if President Bush and Senator Kerry just reignite the energy debate. To bring clarity to energy security, we need a comprehensive long-term national energy plan that will reduce our reliance on foreign oil while meeting the nation??™s growing transportation needs.

Both supply and demand sides of the transportation issue will have to be addressed to make a meaningful impact in reducing the dependence on foreign oil. Steps to increase the supply of domestic transportation fuels including alternatives to oil will likely be required. So too will efforts to reduce per capita transportation fuel consumption.

Based on what has been outlined to date, neither the Bush proposal nor the Kerry plan appears to fully address the critical transportation issue. The House-Senate conferees have an opportunity to deliver a responsible energy bill to the President's desk for his signature. If the dependence on foreign oil is not reduced, the course of the U. S. economy and the stock market may well be shaped more by decisions made in Moscow, Riyadh, and Vienna rather than being determined by the decisions made at home.

You can not fight Terrorism with an Army!
By: Travis Patriot

You can not fight terrorism with an Army because you will make more terrorists than you kill & thus - Fuel Terrorism instead!
You simply can not fight terrorism with an Army!

Because when you send an Army into a village to get one terrorist, by the time they come back out (after violently invading homes, destroying private property & killing innocent people by accident or otherwise) you will find that you have many more terrorists than you managed to capture or kill!

???By going after one terrorist in an unjust & illegal manner that violates the rights of others ??“ you will make several more if not hundreds!??? Maybe even Hundreds of Ben Ladens!
Note: Our founding fathers were revolutionaries & the King of England sent his soldiers to round up these few troublesome revolutionaries in order to squash the rebellion. But after invading homes & private property, the King found out that the moderates (those who were in the middle & didn??™t want to fight) had turned & joined the revolutionaries!

The Colonists then terrorized the King??™s men all the way out of America by using unconventional tactics that could have only seemed like terrorism to the King??™s men! Unconventional tactics were the only way for the revolutionary ???farmers??? to stand up to & defeat the mightiest military in the world (at that time).

By using armies to fight terror we may make the moderate Muslims overtly side with the mighty US ??“ only to covertly side with & truly support their religion! This could drive the moderates to side with the extremists! But this is just what the Republican Right-Wing Religious Extremists in Washington want as all extremists do. They want to bring about Armageddon! This is them forcing their un-provable religious beliefs on all of us and we may all have to live in a living ??“ fiery ??“ hell on earth if they get their way & are wrong!

The enemy is growing in Iraq & Afghanistan. Bush did Ben Laden & Sadam Hussein a favor when he talked the talk but couldn't deliver. "Dead or Alive!" He said but those jack rabbits are no where to be found!

And now we look bad and we are less safe today than before. The people of Iraq & Afghanistan have their freedom but free people living in a hell on earth caused by our invasions only  fuels  anti-American hatred & terrorism.

The Iraqis for example, know that we didn't come to liberate them! They can see this clearly as indicated by the lack of law & order & wide spread looting happening while the ministry of oil was kept safe & secure!
