High Lights, Low Lights and Strikes
This week had its high lights, low lights and oh! Did we forget about the strikes??

High Lights…

Reese Witherspoon has won the race. Witherspoon came out as this year's highest paid actress. E! News says there are reports that the actress may be earning up to $29 million in her upcoming role in Our Family Trouble. Also on the list following Witherspoon are: Angelina Jolie and Cameron Diaz were Hollywood's highest paid actresses this year.

Elizabeth Berkley of "Showgirls" and "Saved by the Bell" fame has signed on to host a new dance reality show on Bravo.

"Step up and Dance" will follow contestants as they compete and try to master a variety of dance styles. The show has begun shooting in Los Angeles, and the winner of the series will receive a cash prize. No premiere date has been set.

Popular actress Jennifer Love Hewitt is engaged

The 28-year old actress's is said to be engaged to 31-year-old actor Ross McCall. The couple dated for two years before McCall popped the question. No date has yet been publicly set for the wedding.

Low Lights:

R&B singer Akon may be in legal trouble after tossing a 15-year old boy off the stage at a concert.

Akon threw a 15-year old boy off of the stage during a June concert in New York. E! also reports that Akon has been charged with "endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment." The incident was caught on a cell phone by a concert goer. E! reports that the video shows Akon imploring the boy to come onto the stage and then hurling him off into the crowd below. The female who the hurled fan landed on later reported being diagnosed with a concussion, thanks to Akon.

Still no leads in the Sean Taylor murder case.

The authorities are working to solve the murder case of a Washington Redskins football player. Sean Taylor, 24, was shot during a home invasion early on Monday, and died soon after. Miami police as of yet are not reporting leads or any suspects in the case.

The NFL decreed that all league players will honor Taylor by wearing Number 21 helmet decals this weekend.

And the strike goes on. … While the strike on Broadway has been solved the Hollywood writers strike still goes on.

The strike that began on Nov. 5th, with almost 12,000 writers in both Los Angeles and New York walking off the job. The writers' strike rages as, representatives of film and television firms and union representatives of the Writers Guild of America try to make headway, but as of yet are not successful in ending the strike.

During the last few weeks, writers have picketed studios and networks, and many shows have been forced into reruns. NBC will be adding additional reality T.V. programming to cover holes in the slots caused by no one writing new shows.

On a brighter note, Broadway is lit up again, Theater owners, producers and stagehands ended their 19 day strike by reaching an agreement late Wednesday night. The League of American Theaters and Producers and members of Local 1 settled their differences after a 12 hour marathon session.
