Subject: City students now can catch up Saturdays

News - Information - Resources and more...

(This Issue Main Presentation)

The Introduction:  While we enjoy the Christmas Holiday, it is quite ok to remember our realities, not that Christmas is not real, and some other good around us. Well a school district is helping kids do better in school by making Saturday a “regular” access day for some additional help to improve kids learning and abilities. More of this is quoted below:

QUOTE: City students now can catch up Saturdays - The City School District is working Saturdays to keep students who are dangerously behind in their studies from dropping out.

A district plan, backed by $18 million in state Contract for Excellence program funds, has more than half of the district's 50 schools opening their doors on Saturdays.

Several suburban Monroe County school districts also are receiving Contract for Excellence funds, which are designed to bolster academic performance, especially of students who scored in the lowest two categories of state standardized tests.

However, Rochester is the only Monroe County district using the funds for Saturday schools.

Newsletter - Care and Share:

(The Newsletter Producer Expressions, details at: http://brinksterfriend.brinkster.net )

We are at the week-end before Christmas, and for some it has been and continues to be a very nice and pleasant Holiday Season. But watch-out for those stressful moments - especially last minute preparations, mistakes, things we forgot, those people with gross remarks, etc…that may just turn the week-end around the wrong way. For some who will not have families around, we hope that the weekend and season will not be too long for them to face with remorse or sad memories. Children almost everywhere will be happy – because Christmas is mostly for them, so they say. Adults with great memories will want to reflect and enjoy this coming week in their unique way. Let everyone be blessed this week-end and in the coming week.
