(This Issue Main Presentation)

The Introduction: When students are shown some great examples of real life issues, life long impressions are sometimes made on their minds. To give them an insight into what life can often be like when parents, for example, are no longer taking care, will open the minds of the conscious child or teen who is interested in real life issues. Here is a very good example of this issue:

QUOTE:  Computer program helps focus goals. Kaeli Garner and Karen Braunstein experienced an eye-opening reality check this week when they got a peek into what the future holds for them when their parents are no longer paying the bills. The girls were among a group of eighth-graders at Bernardo Heights Middle School who participated in a career-exploration program designed to get students thinking about careers and factors to consider when making choices.

Students were asked to envision themselves living on their own after graduating from high school or college, and writing down how much they would need to pay their living expenses.

For those who simply adore the movies, their favorite television series and love the “Oscars,” they must be pleased with the fact that the “writers” strike is over and it’s back to the business of entertaining. I heard that many were somewhat surprised that the strike lasted so long (about three months) and that it was only resolved because this week-end Oscars matters a lot to millions worldwide. This may be true, but sometimes we have to look at the reasons for the strike and the other-side who wanted their rights attended to in a justified manner. But beside that, the end of the strike is just good news.
