Subject: The high cost of buying organic foods

News - Information - Resources and more...

(This Issue Main Presentation)

The Introduction: Some people just love organic food. But like many things in America and else where around the world, they really cost a lot today. The report below is an example of the current trend about this matter.

QUOTE: Sticker Shock in the Organic Aisles - Rising prices for organic groceries are prompting some consumers to question their devotion to food produced without pesticides, chemical fertilizers or antibiotics. In some parts of the country, a loaf of organic bread can cost $4.50, a pound of pasta has hit $3, and organic milk is closing in on $7 a gallon.

“The prices have gotten ridiculous,” said Brenda Czarnik, who was shopping recently at a food cooperative in St. Paul.

Some news reports in America are unfortunately reporting that teens and children in general who are interested and seeking summer jobs are having consistent problems finding jobs. This is not good news. We can remember how important those little 2-4 weeks or more job assignments were to some of us during out teen years, while others just had fun during the school break. Teens normally learn well from summer jobs and some near leaving/graduating school, even receive follow-up full employment from their summer employment after their graduation. The US Economy and consumers are not in a good financial situation in general. But even so, we just hope that those summer jobs will be offered to those who are seeking them
