"I Believe in You!"
A message of Hope, stories from the
road.
By Bob Perks
*************************************************
Hello, my friend!
I had mentioned on Friday that I would be sending a brief
update to you.
Not in place of a story, but just a few moments of our
time together talking
about the stuff of life.
For those of you who are new to this list permit me to
explain.
My wife, Marianne had breast cancer and shortly after
finding it
she had a double mastectomy. We will soon be nearing
two years.
During that time period I was a real mess. In times
like this, one
always turns to friends. In this case there were
thousands. I shared
my time with the people who read my stories. I
consider each of you
my, "Friends I've never met."
The response was overwhelming. My wife received
cards and gifts
from thousands of people around the world. Right until
this day they
continue to remember her in prayer.
That's why I wanted to take this time to update all of you
on how
she is doing.
My God is a God of miracles. She has been remarkable
in her recovery
and continues her treatment.
It breaks my heart to hear this when she reminds me, but
she takes 11 pills
a day. But very soon most will end. As free
as we all believe she is from
cancer, we are also reminded of the great possibility that
she could get
ovarian cancer from the original cancer. It is where
this cancer goes.
So she was told she must have
her ovaries removed as soon as possible.
She has decided next year.
Me? I would have chosen months ago, but she is
indeed in charge of herself.
So I counter it with intensive prayer.
I thank you all for your continued prayer and kind words
for her. Her battle with
Fibromyalsia continues secondary to the cancer, but
remains constantly a
part of our lives. She has good and not so
good days.
Now two things I am proud to share with you.
1. A while ago I wrote a story "When you come home"
and it was recently featured on
Beliefnet as an audio (my reading it)/ video tribute to
our soldiers. A request came in
from a soldier overseas to use
that in presentations for all the troops. Beliefnet asked
me and they jumped at the chance.Very soon 1,000 DVD's of "When you come home"
(they created a special version of it for live
presentation) will be rushed to the troops in
that entire area so it can be
shared to lift their spirits and give them hope.
I cannot accurately describe how I feel about this
opportunity. I am so incredibly
blessed beyond words. You
can see the original version here or simply
read the story I wrote. http://www.beliefnet.com/story/192/story_19216_1.html
2. Beliefnet then asked me to write a piece about an
upcoming series on TLC.
"The Messengers." It begins
next Sunday July 23rd 10/9 central. It is an exciting and
very inspiring search for the next great inspirational speaker. They searched around
the US, heard 650 speakers (no I wasn't one of them)
then selected ten. Each week
in the series they send the speakers into a life
challenging situation (homelessness,
a morgue, a day facing life as a physically challenged
person and much more. They
then return to do a presentation based on their experience.
There are two judges and the audiences who decide who
leaves and who goes on
until they find...the next great
inspirational speaker.
My story will appear sometime this week on Beliefnet.com
under the entertainment
section. Again it is a great
honor and opportunity for me to do this.
Well, that's it. My update, my little talk with my
"friends I've never met."
I will have a story for you tomorrow.
I thank you...I love you all! "I see you in my
prayers!"

"I wish you enough!" written by Bob Perks (c) 2001 "I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye." |
