Hello, my friend!
First, thanks for all of the caring messages regarding my

July 18, 1950
Today I turn 56.
I can't even imagine that. It really takes my breath
away.
Thus today's story. A moment of reflection on what I
want out of life.
What I have are so many wonderful friends to be thankful
for...
"Friends I've never met."
My best to all of you...always.
Bob and Marianne.

Today's Message:
"Lasting Legacy"
by Bob Perks
I don't want to be remembered by etching my name on some
cold stone
in a grave yard.
I do want to encourage someone to try harder and live more
because life is
all too short.
I don't want a college campus building named after
me.
I want to inspire others to continue on in
school.
I don't want to be quoted for some lofty, educated,
calculated idea I came up
with.
I want others to learn that there are simple, basic truths
that can be found
in everyday moments and inspired by everyday
people.
I don't want to write a 2,000 page book.
I want to write a line or two that inspires someone to get
up after they
have fallen.
I don't want to win great awards, gather trophies or
collect gold framed certificates
for literary accomplishments.
I want to tell stories about little guys doing little
things that make a big difference.
I don't want to be remembered as a great inspirational
writer.
I want to be remembered as a great dad, a loving husband
and a giving man.
I don't want to leave a lasting legacy...I want to leave
the world a little better
because I lived at all.
"I believe in You!"

RE: Update on Marianne
Bob,
It's rather ironic that you sent this update on Marianne. I
was just updating
my address book the other day and came across the post office
box that you
gave out and I was wondering how she was doing. She is a very
strong and
brave woman. Her road to recovery is a long one and I wish her
the best.
Thanks for the update.
Mary Ellen
Hi Bob:
Just listened to the video, how wonderful and what a great
message you
have. It was so very touching. I will continue to pray for you
and Marianne
also, she is such a strong woman and May God Bless you both,
you both
have been such an inspiration to me and my
family.
Hugs and prayers
Laverne
Thanks, Bob, for the update on Marianne. You are both in
my daily prayers and have
been for a long time.
Corinne Bless you Bob & our prayers for Marianne are always there!
You have become our
family of far away! Keep you positive attitude
& your face always shining to the light
& God will inspire you & all those close around you.
Love to Marianne.
Best wishes

Dear Mr. Perks,
I can't not tell how much your e-mail touched my heart. I wish
Marianne the first best.
I went to the belief website and listened to "When
You Come home." It brought
tears to my eyes.
My very best to you both,
June
Hi Bob,
Thank you so much for the
update on Marianne's health. It's so good to know that
our prayers are being answered
and that she is doing well and taking control of her life,
may she also do
so.
Congratulations on the 'When
you come home' article. It just goes to prove a point that you
have often made that has been a
strongpoint for all of us..........one voice, one person,
one action..........one CAN
make a difference.
YOU prove this time after time,
YOU strive to live what you speak of when encouraging
others. No, you are not
perfect, but then neither are we. It's because you are just like the
rest of us, you hurt, you
struggle and you don't always make the right choices, but you do
try to put right the things
that you may do wrong, you do try to say sorry when the need is
there, you do try to be that
one voice that helps to make the difference.
THANK YOU
FRIEND
With gratitude, from Veronica

Thanks for the update Bob! Can't believe it's been two years already,
but I'm sure for you
and Marianne, living through it all, it must seem like forever. I
actually was wondering how
she was doing recently as I reflected on (and said a prayer for) my friends
who have had
cancer over the past couple years - some surviving and some unfortunately
not. I shall
continue to keep Marianne in my prayers.
Glad to hear your good news too! I'm so happy that the world is
beginning to find out what a
wonderful man you are - we (your friends you have never met) have
known it for so long and
are very grateful for you.

Thanks Bob for your update. GOD BLESS both of you. I am a firm
believer myself. There
has been at lot of cancer in our family so I have some idea
what you all are going through.
I enjoy your site very much and your reading.
Respectfully, Glenda
My dear friend, Bob~
Hearing from you is like receiving a letter from home.
May you and your family be filled with love, light, and
blessings~Mama T
Bob... Thank you so much for all you share and thank you for
all you are to your family and
friends. Marianne will always be on my prayer list as
you will too, Bob! God has given you a
wonderful talent and you use it wisely by speaking with us out
in cyber space. Thank you
again for all you give.
I'll see you in my Prayers!
Love, Carol
Bob, My thoughts in writing for you are ONE person can make a
difference and you are ONE of those
persons that is making a big difference in so many
lives. Thanks for being you. EVERYONE is
very proud of YOU and don't you forget it.
LOL (lots of love) Eloise
Bob & Marianne,
Wow! What a wonderful update.
We are so proud of you both. Together you are survivors of the
highest order. We are all proud
to count you as friends.
Thank you both for the inspiration you inject into our lives.
Thank you for sharing yourselves
with us. And thank you for sharing the God of miracles
with us.
Congratulations on all your well-deserved achievements Bob. I
have a news flash for TLC.
I reckon I know who should be recognized as 'the
next great inspirational speaker'. You're it Bob!
Kindest regards from Melbourne, Australia.

Hi Bob and Marianne,
I'm glad to hear that all is going fairly well, and ecstatic
to know the breast cancer is staying away.
With both your hearts, your love for each other and
yourselves, and your love for God, I know that you
both can overcome anything. Marianne will breeze through
the new surgery next year. Bob, you
are truly a remarkable "friend I've never met" and I know that
Marianne is, too. You are both
always in my thoughts. I wish you both happiness and
good health. Maybe someday soon
they will find a cure for fibromyalgia. That would be
wonderful for Marianne and the millions
of others who suffer from this disease. Please continue
to keep us all updated.
"I believe in you [both]!!"
Love, always and all ways,
Selena
Bob,
you are amazing!!! words cannot express what i
read in your heart. (how's that for a
title? )
( What I Read In Your Heart) you are correct, you do
have many friends you've never met...
i am one of them. you are both in my prayers, each
struggling with the difficulties in your own way,
but as a mighty team!!!!! marianne is certainly blessed
to have such a compassionate, caring
husband and friend in you. and you are blessed to have
such a wonderful woman who obviously
has shared in all of your dreams and all of
life's disappointments. please know that there are
many folks who care about your situation and care about the
both of you and your family..
thanks for sharing your heart-thoughts with all of
us.
