"I Believe in you!"
A message of Hope...stories from the
road.
By Bob Perks
************************************************
Hello, my Friend!
A little fun...a little sun...a little color for your
day.
A rant for the weekend...
This is not my normal story. Just some thought I
need to share.
You will find a message below, too.
Why don't my messages arrive every time?
Everyone gets blocked by AOL. Not just my
messages.
In some cases, ISP's (internet service providers) add new
software to protect
their subscribers. They cheer "Way to go!" but don't
realize they often block
things they want to receive. The levels of filtering
gets deeper and deeper.
Your mailing service, your ISP, your computer, your
software all block or filter.
Why? Because big companies and little worms take
advantage of the free
system to sell their products while giving you nothing in
return.
Scammers and thieves overflow the system to
get at those they can steal from. Why? Because most
people using the internet
have no idea how to use it safely.
"You've won!"
"Mildred, we won a gazillion dollars from a lottery in a country called "Stealyourmoneystan!" All they want is our checking
account number and
several thousand dollars handling fee. I don't even
remember entering the
lottery there."
"Let's do it, Stan!"
Then there are people who get a computer and no anti virus
protection.
"I just want to email my cousin in Newark. I won't
get a virus. Oh, look someone
named John Jones sent me a greeting card. I'll open
it and thank him."
"Why is everyone in my address book sending me angry
messages?"
Lesson...
When you sign up to receive messages, write down the list
name so when they ask
you to confirm, you don't delete it as junk mail and
report them as S p a m. Some
sign up for so many things they forget.
Don't visit sites that collect your email address..."free
greeting cards to send to friends."
They use your email address and others to send junk
mail.
Find out what filters your ISP is using and then go check
out the trash they are blocking.
They may be blocking things you want. You can list
them as okay to send.
Add addresses to your address book of all the emails you
want to receive. That tells your
computer it's okay.
Don't open email attachments from anyone. Not even
your best friend from Jasper unless you asked
them to send something to you. No
one.
Don't send attachments to anyone without asking them if
they want it. No one.
Don't forward the heart breaking email about the child,
woman, man, dog dying from cancer who always
wanted to get a hundred million cards. Check all
such stories out at http://www.snopes.com
They list every fake story being circulated.
Don't keep the car running because you just did a survey
and any moment you will get a $100 gift card from
Wal-Mart, Applebee's, Staples, or others. It ain't
comin'!
No one is going to send you a laptop and large screen TV
for answering a few questions. They will want a deposit
and drain your life savings.
No charity will receive money for each email sent in their
name. There is no way to track it. No way.
Trump nor Gates is giving money away. Trump is too
busy name calling and doing his hair. Gates does great things
using his own charities.
President Bush doesn't see your name on the long list of
people against or for anything. Besides...never mind.
God will love you even if you don't pass the email to
eight friends. Email your friends and tell them you love
them and your will really do what God wants you to
do.
Cheap pills don't make sex better. You
do.
The email isn't necessarily a true story because some
lawyer or company president says it's true.
You won't get bitten by a spider in your mail box or
fingers shredded in a phone coin return. Clean your
mailbox
and use your cell phone.
British Airways is offering free round-trip travel to
London to those who forward an e-mail message to
Don't go to the airport with that one. They will
slap you in jail.
Don't even read past the opening line of any email that
starts..."I don't normally pass these on, but this one seemed
real."
It isn't.
What you can believe is, I write from my heart to touch
your heart. I try to get every message to you, every time but
can't.
I really do hurt knowing that anyone is hurting. I
pray for you even though I have never met you. I make mistakes.
I am far
from perfect and far from what God really wants me to be,
but I try. I am a man and I cry. I am a father and I say "I love
you!"
every time I speak with my children. I am an old
romantic and my wife knows how much I love her every day. There is no
one
I won't talk to or pray for. No one.
When I say "I believe in you..."
I do. I really do.
Love you (really) Bob

Today's message:
“Where did the flowers go?” by Bob Perks I miss the colors of my garden. Where did the flowers go? I miss them swaying with the breath of God
And standing still in the warmth of His
light. In the morning they were eager to face the
day Heads low until the first sunbeam dances across their
face Responding then in gratitude they rise to greet the
sun. More faithful than I, they rise to the occasion even
on cloudy days. Somehow knowing that beyond the clouds, on the
darkest of days, The sun keeps its promise,
still. I miss the colors of my garden. Where did the flowers go? Perhaps, by some divine intervention, the colors do
not fade away but are absorbed into the leaves of a million nearby
trees. The yellows of the daffodil, the redness of the rose, the purple of the pansy and the orange of the day lily take my breath away
once more. In that cycle of life the colors soon fall back down
to earth to sleep perhaps until spring. I sigh… “I miss the colors of autumn leaves. Where
did the colors go?” Then, God responds unexpectedly in stark contrast to winter’s black and white, painting the sky before me with a blazing sunset.
"I believe in you!"
Bob

"I Wish You enough!"
(c) 2001 Bob Perks I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye." |
