"I Believe in you!"
A message of Hope...stories from the
road.

"Don't doubt whether what I write about is true.
Worry more about why you believe it couldn't happen to begin
with."

Hello, my Friend!
Wednesday already? Or it's only
Wednesday?
That depends on how you see it.
Thanks for taking time to read this. Time is a most
precious thing.
My very best,
Bob and Marianne

Today's message:
"How many things..."
By Bob Perks
We were having a conversation the other day about
details.
I believe that life is in the details and too many of us
miss the finer
points while in search of happiness.
I also believe that we have the answers we seek
already. Like God
pre-programmed us and all we need to do is find it
inside.
Marianne was looking for ways to help her staff
re-discover or uncover
the gems buried in their daily routines. She wanted
a way for them to
find new things in old steps they take daily.
Of course that got me thinking.
How many things have you looked at but never really
seen?
One of the things I use in my training classes require the
participants
to write down in detail what the person next to them
was wearing. Without
revealing this I'd ask them to stand up face the person on
the right or left and after
a minute I'd ask them to turn their backs to each
other.
"Now, write a description in detail what
they were wearing."
Of course they'd moan.
Next I'd ask them to stand facing each other, then turn
their backs and change one detail.
Remove glasses, turn a pin upside down, put the watch on
the other hand and turn around
again.
"What changed?"
Of course this was all in fun. But the point made
was simple. We just don't pay attention
to details. Yes, many details are insignificant, but
what about when we look outside the
company to find someone who can do a certain job and Joe
or Sue could have easily
done it. Or more importantly when we don't see a
change in a friend or loved one and
something happens to them.
Here's a challenge for you. Next time you are with a
friend, find some detail about them that
you can compliment.
"I like that tie!" "That's a nice dress!" "Are
those earrings new?"
Or take note of the servers name on their name tag when
they first approach your table and use it.
"Hello, Sue!" Or "Thanks, George!"
I just told the cashier at the restaurant that I really
appreciate all the miles she must walk each day
to help people enjoy their visit.
She went on to tell me that she actually bought a
pedometer to prove it.
"Let's just say it's enough to keep this girlish figure!"
she said laughing.
She was a hefty lady with a great sense of
humor.
Now here's a simple test. Without looking, write
down as many things as you can to describe a
dollar bill or equivalent in your country.
Now look at it. What details did you miss? You
handle it everyday without noticing it's finer points.
How about the loved ones in your life?
"How many things have you looked at but never really
noticed?"
By the way...I like the way your hair looks
today!
"I believe in you!"

I encourage you to share my stories but I do ask
that you keep my name and

"I Wish You enough!"
© 2001 Bob Perks I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye." |
