"I Believe in you!"
A message of Hope...stories from the
road.

"Don't doubt whether what I write about is true.
Worry more about why you believe it couldn't happen to begin
with."

Hello, my Friend!
"I Wish You Enough!"
That's my new message to you. Well, it's really my
old message. It's what I'm best known
for so in this world of message "branding"
I need to build on it so I can reach more
people.
Okay, so this email comes to you from my old
service. I just submitted email addresses
to my new service, but they will only permit me to send a
"confirmation" email to 2,000
people at a time. Yes, it's almost alphabetical
according to the actual email address.
Like Abc @ something will get that email before Xyz
does.
So, over the next four to five days they will be sending a
message asking you to confirm
that you want to continue to receive my
stories.
I pray you do.
If, by next week, you don't get one you'll be able to sign
up with my new service on my website.
The process is so much simpler. You click on the
link in the email and it takes you
to my "thank you" page. There's nothing there to try
to get more info from you, or have
you sign up for anyone else's messages.
Just a thank you.
I love it so far!
I will send another story on this service and a final note
to remind you I am switching to
AWeber services. Then life will go on and we will
indeed continue to be "friends I've
never met" but on a regular basis.
For now...
"When I am alone, we are together." My story for
today...

Today's message:
"When I am alone"
by Bob Perks
I hadn't seen him in a long time. It
was obvious that we both were unsure about
each other.
He was white haired, his face a little worn from time and
was using a cane.
Much different than the high school image I had
stuffed away in my memories.
I, on the other hand, look exactly like I did...well, very
much like I was...ah, as old looking
as I was just that
morning.
"Bob?" he questioned.
"Jack, you haven't changed a bit!" I replied.
"Neither have you. You're still full of it!" he said
laughing.
We talked and tried to catch up on decades lost.
Acknowledging the magnitude of such
an endeavor, we tended to skim around the outsides of the
years gone by.
Then I took a step in a direction most natural in
conversations like this, which turned a bit
uncomfortable for me.
"So, did you ever get married? I mean, who is that
sad, sad soul that settled for you?" I asked.
He lowered his head for a moment and then slowly looking
up he said, "You wouldn't know her."
"Do you have any children?" I asked.
"No, no children."
"Where does she work?"
"Bob, my...wife is dead. She died many years ago
shortly after we were married," he said quietly.
Then I fumbled around with a few uncomfortable words of
sympathy trying to show my concern
and at the same time apologize for not
knowing.
Then releasing me from my self-imposed burden, he
said, "You'd have no way of knowing, Bob.
We haven't seen each other for years," he
said.
"So you never re-married?" I asked
hesitantly.
"No and there's no need to feel sorry for me," he said
with a slight smile.
Then he said the most incredible thing.
"When I am alone, we are together."
Wonderful. How absolutely wonderful.
He went on to explain that when he is around other
people, out in social settings, it's difficult at times.
"Those are places and events when one would expect to be
with their spouse. Family gatherings and
holidays are a challenge, even after all this time.
But when I am alone with her, it's like it was meant to be."
We stared at each other for a moment. I, with a look
of admiration and regard for his dedication and he
with a smile of contentment and satisfaction.
Sometimes you see old friends and wonder. Sometimes
you see old friends and walk away counting
your blessings. But sometimes...sometimes you are
filled with the kind of joy that makes you proud they
are your friends.
"I believe in you!"
Bob
I encourage you to share my stories but I do ask
that you keep my name and
contact information with my work.

"I Wish You enough!"
© 2001 Bob Perks I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye." |
