"I Believe in You!" A message of hope, stories from the road By Bob Perks **************************************************** Hello, my friend! Forgive me!? I am still trying to work out the little bugs in this new system.? In general I love what Zinester has to offer me.? Even though I must pay to send messages to you, it gives me a chance to do it right without outside advertising to you. Now, two things:? 1.? The links in the last issue to my store were acting up.? That was my fault because I checked a little box in the new system.?
I shouldn't have. Here are the right links to my store: http://wishes.easystorecreator.net 2.? If you have been receiving my messages since the switch over and they appear in scrambled text form, (html) I am now offering it in plain text and HTML.? That should solve the problem for the plain text people. If this message is still scrambled, email me and I will edit your preferences on
my system. The links to sign up for my stories have been changed on my web site and now provides an opportunity for new friends to signup, too.? If you have an email address change you can also use the link at the bottom of any message to unsubscribe from that old address and then resubscribe under the new one. If ever you miss a message you can use the links at the bottom of any message to visit my "archives" on Zinester. ***************************************************** ? All stories copyright? 1999 Bob Perks Today's Message: "Waiting for a Rescue"? By Bob Perks ? I heard her say it several times. I was busy doing other things and her voice really became background noise for me. But those words..."Waiting for a rescue" grabbed my ear. I walked into the living room and there on television a young woman was speaking before a congressional hearing. She was developing Parkinson's Disease. Her passionate appeal in the five minute time slot given her, was compelling and at times emotional. For the life of me I couldn't repeat to you right now any of the statistics she quoted. Those words pierced my heart and stirred up memories for me. After running them over and over again in my mind I began to see thousands of people throughout this country and perhaps around the world just standing there. Standing as if waiting for a bus or hailing a taxi...waiting for a rescue. In my personal life rescue referred to a drug that they injected in my son Keith after they completely destroyed his immune system each time he went for a chemo treatment. They would crash his system and then rescue it. But these images of people waiting disturbed me. No, they were not people waiting for food. No, they were not people in a raging river reaching for the rope dropped by the passing helicopter. They were every day people standing dumb founded and confused about what to do next in life. Their answer was prayer, the lottery, inheritance or a burning bush. Maybe even a motivational speaker who will help them for four easy payments of $149.95 because the last four guys systems didn't work for them. What pained me the most was the image of lost, lonely people who ran out of hope. What they really needed was to take action. This beautiful woman with Parkinson's was taking action as she waited for a rescue. She was a part of something bigger than she. She could have stayed at home, read the statistics and waited to die believing there was nothing she could do. The sad part about all of these images in my mind was, I was among those people just standing there. I have often written to you about my struggle to reach more people. You have read between the lines of my messages and perhaps could see my own personal battle with success. Yes, I cry out "God, what do you want me to do?" Yesterday He screamed back, "Don't just stand there!" Are you just standing there waiting for a rescue? Are you praying diligently but not acting on the guidance you know He has sent you each time? Are you waiting for your ship to come in while standing at the airport waving good-bye to everyone? Even the sneaker company tells you to "Just do it!" But no, not you and I.? We want the 142 page instruction manual. We will wait for the perfect day while vacationing on the imaginary island..."Someday I'll" I know that one day soon some speakers bureau or publicist will receive one of my messages and discover me. Then Oprah will invite me to be on her show. I'll just stand here and wait for a rescue from just getting by. I'll remain satisfied that "God never let's me down. Even in the worst months for me in this business, He always provides enough work for me to pay my bills." It's true. God feeds even the smallest bird. But He doesn't throw the food into the nest. That's why He gave them wings. That's why He gave you and me imagination, brain power, creativity, gifts, and the ability to go out and use them. "You can't steer a parked car!", one pastor friend of mine said to me. Today's another chance. Don't just stand there. ? "I believe in you!" Bob Perks ? copyright 2005 Bob Perks?
