Hello, my friend!
My recent story, "Just one more time" certainly stirred up
some memories for many of you. Thanks for sharing your own with
me.
Some of you wrote to say that you missed my "Big" debut on
the front page at BeliefNet. Here's a link to the page through their

"Feel the burn" they say when exercising. That's why
I don't exercise, but I feel the burn for life. I feel the burning in my
soul for what I want and what I do. If you're not burning inside who put
out your fire? Perhaps the better question is, "Why did you let
them?" Bob Perks

Today's Message:
"I've got a passion
for..."
By Bob Perks
"Passion. How else can I explain it?" he said. "I have a passion for
what I do!"
He naturally caught my attention when he used my favorite
word..."Passion". There are times in my presentations when I say that word
and stop dead in a sentence. I often times have the audience repeat it
back to me. Usually the first time they say it, they might as well be
saying "automobile." There's never any excitement in saying the word the
first time. But then I stop them and explain the importance of the
word. Finally, with every vital emotion they can muster, I have them
repeat it.
"Passion." It sends chills up their spine.
You see that's the difference between wanting something and REALLY wanting
something. If you develop a passion for it, you are driven by the thought
that you can have it. That it's really within your reach.
This all came about because I was reading a book on "Creating Character
Emotions" in my writing. They stressed the importance of creating
desire in particular characters. In fact, they went as far as to say
"desire" was superior to "passion" in a person. I totally disagreed.
I have found that when I am speaking with someone who is sharing their
dreams and plans for the future, there is little drive in the "wanting to be,"
"planning to be" or certainly not in the "wishing to be," goals set for becoming
happy and successful in their life.
Wanting, planning and wishing are words for children. "I have a
passion for...!" is a powerful statement. It says "I want it bad enough to
work for it," "Do whatever it takes to get it," "It is a part of who I
am."
Wow! Which one of those people do you think will succeed? The
"wisher" or the one with a "passion" for it?
My friend Mark has a passion for what he does. I could hear it in his
voice. He wants to teach people to venture inside themselves to find what
they are looking for. I knew what he was talking about. It's what I
tell you. Everything you need you have already. It's inside.
You know the right thing to do, but it takes work. Your search for outside
answers is a feeble attempt at trying to find an easier way to get there.
Outside solutions are pacifiers for internal desires. That's why we
turn to drugs, alcohol, smoking and possessions. They are external tools
to bury the internal voice that's telling you, "There's greatness inside. Tap
into it. Find your passion. It will fulfill your life and connect
you to all the joy and abundance you need."
But we fail to listen. We most likely fail to believe we can.
So, I know my passion. I live my passion. I act on it and it
fulfills me.
Do I want more? Yes! More opportunities to reach more
people. More chances to awaken a spirit that lies dormant within another
human being. I want to see more of the world. I want to sing my
songs of hope for you. I want to write more words that touch the hearts of
those who are struggling. I want to speak to audiences in such great numbers
that merely walking out on stage overwhelms me.
What is your passion? What one thing do you want to do with your
life that would fill the empty parts of your heart and soul?
Say it. Go ahead, say the word and feel it, mean it.
"Passion!"
If you are saying it correctly you are connecting that word with a
thought, desire, dream for your life. Say it again. Make the
connection. Play with the words until you know you've tapped into the
right one.
Now work with it . Work on it. Develop it and create a
plan for it.
And do it with "P A S S I O N!" "I believe in You!"

RE: "Just One More Time"
Dear Bob,
Thank you for taking me down memory lane, back in time, to the "old" days. We didn't vacation in such a place, we lived there. We carried water from the spring about 1/10 mile from the old house to drink, do dishes, etc. We had the out house and also the old coal or wood stoves that heated you on one side while you froze on the other side. There was no electricity and my brother and I did homework by kerosene and Aladdin lamps. We walked nearly 3 miles to and from school across a pasture that held cows and one bull. We were scared of the bull, but had to cross the pasture anyway to get to the old country road that led to the old one-room country school house. I was born 10 years before you were. I am now 65. I have so many more memories of those days, but am sure you don't have room to enter all of them. Juanita Dear Bob and Marianne - "the one more time" are our
memories. This saying
fits, I think - "God gave us memories, so we can have roses in December." I'm living in the house I grew up in so I can live the "one more time" daily. I didn't do my grandma's house visit often but also kind of wish I could visit "one more time" so you see you are not alone. LOL (that's lots of love) Eloise Bob
Thank you for bring back a precious memory. I also
spend a couple summer vacations at Harvey's Lake. And those outhouses were quite
scary at 10 and 12 years old. Especially at night. I was born in Scranton, PA
and those vacations are the only ones that we ever went on. And they were fun.
Thank you for your wonderful stories.
Bless you. Carol
Hi Bob:
I've never written to you before but I just want you to know that I praise the Lord for you everyday. When your e-mail arrives it's like a letter from home. I can readily relate to "Just one more time" and the memories. i've tried to raise my two daughters the same way and they too have an appreciation for the same things I had when I was child, God bless you for your writings. I have followed the struggles of Marianne and want you to know that I do pray for you daily. I now am faced with two of my dearest cousin both dying of cancer in the next few months, I pray for God;s will in their lives and I know they are going to heaven because they have given their life to Christ. Keep up the good work. I go to the BeliefNet site almost daily and was pleasantly surprised when I saw your smiling face. We need more exposure of people like yourself to show the world what a true Christian is. My love always and all ways, Jeanne - Illinois Hi Bob,
My "one more time" would be to go to Grandma and Grandpa's in Brooklyn, N.Y. If we stayed overnight, we slept on the sofa and in the morning there was a pile of cold toast, because Grandpa wanted to be sure there was enough, so he started making it early. In those days toast was made on the stove. And the tree that grew in Brooklyn was near their place, coming up from the sidewalk. They lived in a brownstone, spoke only Italian, and were an inspiration. "I'll see you in my prayers" Corinne Bob,
Oh, but of course, all of your friends took the
time to visit Beliefnet. That is why you have so many friends reading your work.
You're just terrific!! And congratulations to you my friend!!
You do touch the world, one heart at a time. Thank you so much for that. I'm proud to be one of the many who pass you around through email. I keep an ear to my friends' needs and when i read one of your stories that i know will touch their heart at that right moment, then i pass you on. You, Marianne and your family are in my daily prayers. Thank you for continuing updates on Marianne's health. God Bless ya'll from Paris, Texas. Nancy Bob, Thanks for a great reminder of the past.
I turn 50 in August and I have found myself over the last few months wanting to
go back and do something "Just One More Time" Oh yes, I remember not
being able to travel far because of funds and staying in a run down old place
with no electric, no running water, no bathroom facilities, and having to
entertain myself. I have often told my husband since he had it a
lot nicer than I did growing up, he could never live this way or even think
about living this way but there are days I wish I could just go
back. Thanks again for letting me remember the good ole
days.
Sherry
Thanks Bob, for the walk of remembering the
days before. Often one shuts out the memories for reasons of their own but
recently we have been doing the remembering of good times in our family. Life
was hard but through all the pains, we had good times and good
memories.
As for the Bingo game, today I went to real Bingo with a friend I am visiting in Ontario. She won 48.00 that we splt then I won last game, expecting 100.00 but it was for one thousand dollars.I WAS SHOCKED but grateful that God even cared enough to bless me with Bingo winnings so Monday I will start my home ward trip knowing I have enough to make it home. thank you for the blessings Jana Bob, This story
brought back a lot of memories of kids sleeping on the floor and finding things
to do. I was the youngest of 8 with the oldest being 24 years older than me so
when everyone came to grandma's house I was the same age as my nieces
and nephews. We had a lot of fun and sleeping on the floor was one of them. You
always bring such good memories with your stories and I look forward to them. I
read Belief.net also and it was great to see your work there. Keep up the
stories and bless you and Marianne you are both in my prayers.
Glenis
Bob, Sure enjoyed the story Bob but then I
always do. You are great at what you do. I also know that you bring a smile to a
lot of folks around the country. You and I have something in common, my Dad
was mechanic also. Guess he spent around forty years doing that and Shop
Foreman later on. God Bless you for your work that gives us pleasure. Roy

Dear Bob,
Your story, "Just One More Time" brought back a memory
that I thought I had forgotten. When I was a child, my parents sister and
I would go to my mother's uncles' house every week-end. There we would
often find several of my out of town cousins, (whom I haven't seen in about 40
years). The house was gigantic...a finished basement (way back then), and
1st. 2nd and YES a 3rd floor. This was not a tenement, just a good old
fashioned home. The huge yard with grape vines, pear and apple trees was a
haven for hide and seek, croquet, horse shoes and all those outside games
"kids" used to play. Even the shed in the yard seemed large to me.
Well, about 7 years ago, I took my grandson who was 2 at the time, to see, "DOWN
HOME", as my mother always called it. I was shocked!!!
Literally, shocked. I could not imagine how small the house, the
yard and, yup, even the shed was. Isn't it amazing how we interpret things
as children?? I'm almost sorry I went back there....the memories I had
were much greater than what I saw that day. Maybe, sometimes, it's better
to just keep our old memories and relish them forever!
I wish you enough!
I believe in you!

Bob,
What memories, Harvey's Lake! I spent many an hour on that Lake with my Aunt & Uncle who lived in Montoursville, PA. I don't remember us spending the night in a cabin, but we spent many a Saturday or Sunday afternoon there. Couldn't afford many rides, but we rode on the Lake. I don't even remember how we had a boat as no one in my family owned one. Guess you could rent a ride on the Lake. It's been so long, I don't remember all the details. We're almost the same age. Thanks for the memories. Your stories are great as usual. Hope
Marianne is doing OK.
Keep the stories coming.
Love to you & Marianne
