"I Believe in You!"
A message of Hope, stories from the road.
By Bob Perks

Hello, my friend!
I do hope you are well.

I made decision today.  You know my life is pretty wide open.  It's all there in my words, woven into stories.  But I thought it was time to show you more.  Thanks to a friend, I say today,  "Welcome to my world!"

Today's Message:

"Well, welcome to my world!" he said sarcastically.

"Everything you see is all mine...nothing!" he continued.

It was a bad day for him.  Actually it's been a bad year for him.  He couldn't see the sunshine in his day if you forced him to face the sun and held his eyelids open.  He has chosen to see the negative things.  He has made it his goal to point out all the things that are wrong.

"I won't even try to correct you.  I know you and I will fight about it.  Just having said that will most likely be enough for you to get mad at me," I said.

I was right.  He walked away.

I spent the rest of the morning feeling frustrated.  I know I can't get to everyone, but I would like to think that I could one day get through to him.  He was my friend for a long time.  But he is fading away.  All that I knew him to be, is melting away year by year.

Still, I know he could, at any time, turn it all around.   If he would choose to do so.

This brief conversation the other day caused me to take a serious look at myself.  I know what blessings I have.  I know what things I would like to see happen before my time is exhausted.

Still.  He made me think about my own world.

The result?  I decided to invite you in.  Oh, I know you may have come to know me through my stories.  You have certainly laughed with me and at times at me.  I know for a fact that we have cried together.  Perhaps more than either of us wanted.  But still we cried together.

So, I searched my photo albums and created a collection of moments in my life.  There is a section for my business friendships.  A section for my family.  I even dug through piles of photos to find pictures of the things, people, places and animals that I have written about through the years.

Oh, yes.  I have created a section for "Friends I've never met!"  That's you.  I only have one photo that was sent to me recently.  I'm not sure they will appreciate it.  But it is the first of many, I hope.

So, my friend, if you have a small photo of yourself and you know how to scan it and send it to me.  Please do.  Please scan it for internet use.  I can't use heavy file attachments.  I will only use first names to identify you.

If you can't do that, then send me a photo in the mail.  Over time I will get to it, scan it and add it to my collection.  I cannot return it.  So don't send me your very best, one and only.

Just put a note with your name in the envelope.  Don't write on the back of it, it might damage the picture.

Send it to:

I couldn't take it any more!  I saw their faces last night and wept for them and for my own abundance.  The people, the families the children of Niger are dying while we live with more than enough.

RE: "I've got a passion for..."

Bob,
Whoa!  The story about passion was wonderfully powerful and thought provoking, but it was your Perks Pearl of Wisdom that caught my attention and held it -- all the way to the end of "I've got a passion for...."

Your pearl made me think of another fine saying - Eleanor Roosevelt said "No one can hurt you unless you let them."  It is so easy to get caught in a downward spiral of listening to folks tear you apart at work and home.  It is hard to stand tall and remember that "I am somebody, 'cause God don't make no junk!"

Thank you for bringing back to me the power to believe in the passion of my dreams and the fire to follow them to completion.

God's peace.

Hi Bob,

I'm so happy that you share your "PASSION" with use.  I also so very much enjoy your sharing some of the comments made by others.  They too add to the "Bob Perks" experience.   We are so blessed to have you in our lives.  Thank you my friend,

Love to you and your family,
Helen O.

Good Morning, Bob

What a wonderful story on Passion.  I used this
word a lot with my patients as passion is what gets
us out of bed every morning and it is the driving
force behind how we live and how we work.
We all have to find something to be passionate about.
Years ago, I read a wonderful book "Bus 9 to Paradise" by Leo
Buscaglia.  It is all about finding your "life's passions".  It made
a difference in my life at the time and now I have your "passionate"
writings to make a difference in my life today.  Thanks so much
for doing what you do.  Hugs, Marilyn in Missouri

Bob,

Ok... this one is printed & goes on my bulletin board at home.  The one that is precariously perched above my art table.  God Bless!

Good Morning Bob:  As always your messages usually speak to me in one form or another, but Passion was just what I needed to hear this morning.  You see I teach Adult Sunday School every 3rd Sunday.  Last Sunday we were discussing the subject of when we do something to or for others we are doing it as if we were doing it to Jesus. I admitted to my friends, that I realized I am not doing all that I could do for Jesus. I have been praying about this, trying to find what Jesus wants me to do. I  often telling everyone that we need to listen to the Lord.  I do listen, and I try sometimes maybe too hard. I have the desire, but maybe what I really need is more Passion. Thank you for reminding me that I all ready have what I need to do whatever it is I am suppose to do.  I now going to think about what my PASSION is with God. That is my answer.  Thank You and God Bless you and your beautiful wife.  Mary J.

Hello my dear friend:  As I child, I thought "passion" had a nasty, sexual connotation--childhood fantasies change with wisdom of maturity.  My wife & I shared the dream to cruise aboard our sailboat.  Through the passion we felt and the actions we took, we fulfilled that dream.  When others were taking expensive vacations, owning new cars & eating out, we were saving--and preparing--to live our dream.  At 54, we sold our house, sold or gave away our "things", took early retirement and sailed "off into the sunset".  The places we visited & the people we met remain etched in our hearts & minds nearly 2 decades later.  In our 70's & dealing with health challenges, we now get out only a few months--sometimes weeks--each year.  But the passion is still there!!  It seems to me that one's passion doesn't wane with age--it gets stronger & more intense.  (Like life itself!!)
I wish enough for both you & your Marianne--Randall of Harmans' Haven

Thank you, Bob, I too have a passion...actually I have a few of them and it fires my rockets...I have a passion for being of service to my mighty King...so therefore everything I do is for the love of Him who gives me my all...then I have a passion for teaching...I love my career....and I have a passion for my business....I love helping people get what they want...I do not believe that life can get any better than this...but I am sure willing to hang out with a PASSION....and see what happens next...I wish you enough...take gentle care of you and Marianne...Janice

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye."
