"I Believe in You!"
A message of Hope, stories from the road.
By Bob Perks

Hello, my friend!

I hope you are well.

Marianne is remarkable as she heads off each day.  Most people wouldn't know she is hurting or
even a thing about what she's been through this past year.   That is the way of those who are strong
in faith.

Okay, you made it this far into the week.  Let's head into the rest of it with enthusiasm!

Love,
Bob and Marianne

Today's Message:
"How's your view from the back?"
By Bob Perks

"I worry about how my kids see Bill and I.  Do they know that we love
each other?" she said to me.

I had sudden flash back images of my mother and father.

I paused before responding to her and finally said, "It depends on the view from the back."

Raising one eyebrow, she said, "I have no idea what you're saying."

"As soon as you said that, I remembered my own childhood.  Oddly I could see
my parents in front of me.  I was walking behind," I said.

"Okay."

"They were holding hands," I said.  "Then I could see them in the car.  I always sat
in the backseat.  My dad was singing.  He always sang.  At that very moment I saw
him reach his hand over to where my Mom was seated.  He grabbed her shoulder
and sang to her."

"I just worry about the way they see the world, love, marriage and relationships," she said.

"I guess it's not just how you act when you know they are watching, it's how they
see you when you're not looking," I said.

"We worry so much about what they see when they are flipping through the channels
on television.  Kids have another view of the world.  It's the things they see and hear
everyday in and around the family.  We can turn the television off, we can select the
channels they can watch and for how long, but we forget that they are more impacted
by what they see everyday in their own lives.  How you respond to them, how you live,
what you do in a crisis and yes, how you love each other should be the real concern," I continued.

"It's wonderful that you had memories of love between your parents," she said.

"Yes, but I also have some not so great memories.  I have often remembered a terrible fight
they had once when I was very young.  I can remember running in between them screaming, "Stop it!"
I cried because I was afraid they might hurt each other.  My father would also stomp out of the house
when he got mad.  My mother would laugh and say, "He'll come back."

I paused smiling for a moment.

"He always did," I added.  "But I choose to remember the love because there was so much more of that."

My friend sat there for a moment.  I believe she was trying to remember her own parents.

"See, what you are doing right now is flipping through the channels.  You are going from one image to
another searching for what you remember about them."

"Yes, I am."

"I hate reality television shows, but in a way it's exactly what we create everyday for our children.
We act out these images we want them to see, but it's when you think they aren't looking...now that's reality!"

The love they see
Bob Perks

You can't pretend to love.
You can't even fake a smile.
The things you think they don't notice,
they have been watching all the while.

Be aware that they are seeing
everything you do.
If you want your children to know love
Then it's really all up to you.

For love isn't just at play time
love isn't a TV show
If you love them unconditionally
Then love will be what they know.

It's not what you want them to remember
it's what they will choose to see.
If you loved one another always
Then loving is what they will be.

RE:  "Then fly, my friend!"

BOB.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TODAY'S MESSAGE  "THEN FLY, MY FRIEND"

SOMETIMES WE LET OTHER PEOPLE GET US DOWN, AND  WE FEEL SO WORTHLESS,
SO HURT.......WE FORGET THAT SOMETIMES THE ANSWER TO OUR PROBLEMS IS SO SIMPLE, JUST STOP WHERE WE ARE, TURN A NEW LEAF AND DISCOVER ALL THAT WE POSSESS INSIDE.....SOMETIMES ITS JUST A FRIEND WHO STANDS BY AND KEEPS TELLING US THERE IS MORE TO YOU THAN YOU KNOW.

THANK YOU MY FRIEND FOR RESTORING MY FAITH...ON A OFF DAY!

GOD BLESS,
KAY

Wow!  Bob, what a beautiful story this is.  We all have such beauty within us and if we only take time to discover the special gifts God has blessed each of us with, oh, what heights we would attain.  Thanks so much~~this one sure touched my heart.  Carol

Dearest Bob~

God Bless you~You ALWAYS speak to me through his divine words.

I asked that my life be more simplified.  It has.  When it did, I was dismayed that it appeared to be limited to what my life could "possess" prior to the request.  What I am finding out, that by slowing down my "wants", I am developing more grace to adjust to the "less" mindframe.  Taking a moment to see the butterflies more clearly is just one of the many wonders I see daily.

How wondrous our heavenly Father is when he lets friends help us out along the way back to him!!

Love, light, and blessings~

Dear Bob:

What a beautiful little story. It would make a wonderful children's book, and should be required reading for those who lack self-esteem.

Thank you. Helen

Dear Bob

As always your stories are truly inspiring and touch the heart!

This story reminded me of a saying in Illusions by Richard Bach  " What the
caterpillar calls the end of the world the Master calls a butterfly"

Thank you so much for sharing your life's work.

Love and prayers to you, Marianne and all your loved ones.

Bob,
EXCELLENT!!!  One of your very best!!!
Barbara

You may never know how much today's story meant to me, Bob, but I still want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have been struggling with something that I felt must be moot because of the way I was perceiving the relationship of time to my life span. You have reminded me that since the gift of my Lord Jesus is eternal life there is nothing for which it can become too late to begin, and nothing done of eternal value will ever go to waste! For those who believe, just as for the butterfly, our destiny is to fly!

Love and God's blessings to you and Marianne!
Sharon

A masterpiece, Bob.
Simply a masterpiece.
Thank you
Mike

Bob....A beautiful Metaphor ....The butterfly...One from hospice I remember so well...though not told as eloquently as by you.  This is a keeper...for sure.

I hope you and Marianne are doing well.   You are both keepers.  You encourage the world you touch....to 'live life to its fullest'.  You 'make a difference' to so many.

God Bless You both,
Jo Ann S.

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye."
