Hello, my friend!
Now that wasn't so bad, was it? You made it through

You made it through the first day of 2006. Now, you
can accomplish anything.
There, in front of you, is a year full of wonderful
possibilities.
Want to make it your best year yet?
Then start with this day, right now...24 hours full of
possibilities.
We can do it together. One day at a
time.

Today's Message:
"Look you're a star already"
by Bob Perks
"It's the brightest one, Daddy. Isn't it?" The
young boy asked. And with
a supportive pat on his son's head, Daddy said, "It
would have to be
that bright to be my son's star."
He carried on the tradition that had been handed down for
generations.
His Daddy had done the same thing for him when he was
small.
They call it the "Future Star."
"Everyone needs something to shoot for. Why not
reach for the stars?"
he explained.
This man believed in the power of that star as much as his
son. Reflecting
back on the day he discovered his "Future Star" he told
his son, "From the
moment your Grandfather pointed my star out, my whole life
had changed."
"How Daddy?" the young boy asked.
"I stopped looking down. I couldn't wait until the
evening just so I could find it again.
The moment I spotted it I new everything was going to be
alright. No matter what
was wrong, that star gave me peace in my heart," he
said.
"Does it really have power Daddy? I mean can I break
iron with it?" the child asked.
"No. It's not the kind of power that makes you big
and strong like Superman.
It's the power that makes you a superhero of your
own life. It's knowledge.
It's belief. It's a good feeling that you have
knowing that you can accomplish
anything you put your mind to if you only believe you
can. And work very hard for it, of course."
"Why do we call it "Future Star?"
"Because believing in it, working for it, trusting
yourself and your talents, one
day you will be a bright and shining star."
"You mean up there in Heaven?"
"Well, at first right here on Earth. Sailors have
been guided by the stars for
centuries. Poets and writers have written about
them. Singers have sung about them.
Dreamers and those in love have spent hours just watching
them.
That's how important they are."
"What about when it's cloudy, Daddy? I can't see it
then."
"Well, my son that's what believing is all about.
You don't have to see it to know
it's always there."
The young child sat for a moment. Dad was all
aglow. This was a moment to
remember for a lifetime. He was reflecting back on
the day when his Father told
him the same story.
"You can't find a moment better than this!" he said out
loud.
Then suddenly his young son stopped.
"Daddy. Don't be mad at me," the boy
said.
"Son, why would I be mad at you?" the father
asked.
"Because I don't need the Future Star," the child said
quietly.
"What? Didn't you hear what I said?"
"Yes, Daddy, I did. You said all I needed to do
was trust in it, believe in it
and it will make me the superhero of my own life.
It's always there no matter
what. Even if I can't see it.," the child said
trembling.
"That's right, son. Why are you shaking?
There's no need to be afraid."
"Daddy, I don't need the star...because...because." he
turned, grabbed both
of his Daddy's hands. Then looking up he
said, "Daddy that's what God is for."
"Ah son." Daddy said as he knelt down in front of
him. Then holding his small
face in his hands, he kissed him. Tears of pride
welled up in his eyes as he said,
"Oh my. Look. You're a star already."

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye." |
