"I Believe in You!"
A message of Hope, stories from the road.
By Bob Perks
*************************************************
Hello, my friend!
A most remarkable miracle.  An act of faith.

I told you so...in my message "Show me how to live" I said...
"So my message is brief today.  But, perhaps one of the most powerful
messages I will ever send out."

This is probably the most remarkable event in my career as a writer/speaker.

Shortly after mailing that message I received a note from one of my
"Friends I've never met."  She had sent that message on to her niece.

Her niece by chance sent it on to a friend she hadn't heard from in nearly
a year.  She was worried about her.  I have changed the names to protect the
exact identity.  But here is the message:

Dear Bob,
I just had to forward this message that I received from my niece. I would certainly hate to
lose you, please keep your wonderful messages coming as long as possible. I am another friend
you've never met and have been with you for a very long time.
                                                                             Love Sincerely,
                                                                                   ________

DEAR AUNT ______,

MY FINGERS ARE ACTUALLY TREMBLING AS I AM TYPING THIS. I HAD TO LET YOU KNOW.

I HAVE A FRIEND IN (another country), ________. SHE IS 30. (more identifiable personal info deleted)
WELL, FOR SOME REASON I FELT SOMETHING TELLING ME SEND BOB'S MESSAGE TO HER.
THE ONE TITLED "SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE".  IT REALLY MEANT SO MUCH TO ME; I REALLY
NEEDED THAT MESSAGE TODAY. HAVE JUST BEEN KIND OF DOWN,OVERWHELMED, TIRED,
ETC. I FELT IT GAVE ME A REAL SPIRITUAL LIFT AND SO SENT IT TO 2-3 PEOPLE, THEN
THOUGHT OF _______ AND HESITATED BUT WENT AHEAD AND SENT IT.

WELL, SHE IM'D (instant messaged) ME IMMEDIATELY. SEEMS SHE HAD JUST WRITTEN
LETTERS TO HER HUSBAND AND FAMILY, AND HAD A KNIFE IN HER HAND READY TO END IT ALL.
THEN SHE HEARD A MESSAGE COMING UP ON THE COMPUTER, WHICH SHE HAS ON ALMOST
ALL THE TIME, AND IT WAS BOB'S MESSAGE. SHE SAYS IT SAVED HER LIFE. I AM STILL SHAKING.
WELL, WE ARE GOING TO DEFINITELY KEEP IN TOUCH NOW. SHE SAYS IT WAS HER ANGEL.
I KNOW IT HAD TO BE - SOMETHING DEFINITELY HAPPENED THERE.

SO, THANK YOU FOR SENDING IT TO ME. TO THINK I WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN IT SINCE __
CAN'T SEND RIGHT NOW !  THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.
WE CAN THANK GOD TOGETHER.

LOVE YOU, __.  SURE WISH WE COULD GET TOGETHER AND HAVE A NICE LONG TALK.
TAKE CARE. WRITE SOON. AND KEEP SENDING THOSE BOB MESSAGES !!  WE SHOULD
WRITE AND TELL HIM TOO, HUH?

LOVE, __ __

See, I told you.  I listened to that "Voice" I hear so often and wrote that message.

He speaks to you, too, you know.

Love always and all ways,
Bob and Marianne

Today's Message:

"The Photograph"
By Bob Perks

It was there in the papers spread out on my desk.  I have no idea why
or how it got there, but like all things of this new life of mine, I knew there
was a reason for it.

I was taken by the timeliness of discovering it.  It's not that I was looking for it
or even that I should have been, it seemed to appear at just the right time.

It was your photograph, one I had not seen in many years.  In truth, I had forgotten what
you looked like back then.

Sharp lines, dark brown hair and a smile that said you were happy then.  Perhaps
even happier than you have ever been.  Maybe just naive enough to see the future as
one big party filled with happy endings.

"What could possibly go wrong?" you might be thinking.

More than you can imagine but balanced by so many great things.

I remember that suit and tie you wore for the picture.  It gives an image of a perfect
young man, almost angelic.  A far cry from reality, I will add.

If I could sit there next to you for a moment I would tell you about all that was ahead.
I would warn you of impending loss, stupid choices you would make and matters of the
heart.

Or would I?

I'd listen to you speak and watch your eyes brighten with all the possibilities.  I'd see the world
once more the way you saw it then and perhaps dance the dance of dreamers, too.

I want you to know you're still dancing after all these years.

I sigh now at the thought of all that could have been, what was to be and take a deep, deep breath
believing what still might become of your life, if only...if only you believe.

No, I wasn't looking for your picture or even thinking about you today.  Still it was pleasure seeing you
again.

Unlike looking in a mirror and moaning, turning my head away in disbelief, seeing a picture of myself at
18, reminded me of where I've been and where I still want to be.

Oh, yes.  In case you are wondering, young Bob...it is a good life you have, filled with more blessings
then one could ever imagine and surrounded by family and thousands of "friends you've never met."

"I believe in You!"

"I wish you enough!"
written by Bob Perks (c) 2001

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye."
