"I Believe in You!"
A message of Hope, stories from the
road.
By Bob Perks

Hello, my friend!
Here we go again! The start of another day.
The beginning of another week.
When you arrive at the other end of either will you be
pleased with all you learned,
all you accomplished, and all you got from
it?
That all depends on how much you listened, how much
you tried, how much you gave!
Make it a great one!

Today's Message:
"Reflection"
by Bob Perks
"The things we see are a reflection of the way we look at
life," he said.
"The view is a reflection of you," I added.
It was a simple exchange. I had no idea who he was
and he didn't know me.
Like a hit and run.
It was all in response to a comment made by still another
player in this game.
People were standing in the park admiring the beauty of
the sunset. We
all appeared to be drawn to that moment. Then we
heard one man stop and say, "I don't
know what the big deal is. It's just another
day."
Most everyone didn't hear him.
The evening sunset teased our senses, eventually
giving into the ticking clock and yet another
final curtain call of night.
The few who paused to share that sunset were
unrelated but for the
magical call of those who appreciate such extraordinary things in ordinary
moments.
Always responding to such moments, I've discovered it
doesn't take a
mirror to see myself. Who I am is
reflected in what I choose to see.
Four
people saw beauty in the setting sun and one man found
nothing but "just another day."
Two people look at a painting of a single flower
surrounded by darkness.
One says, "How very sad. The ugly of the world has taken over the beautiful,
leaving one last flower yet to be destroyed."
Another says, "Oh, my! How
absolutely wonderful! The triumph and
celebration of the power and determination of one single flower to bring
beauty and hope into the darkness."
They see themselves in what they choose to see in the
world.
Their perception is their reality.
They say a mirror doesn't lie, but I believe that it can
indeed. If I choose to see myself
as a failure, I will see it in the mirror as well.
The truth is, failure is an event never a person.
Your world is a reflection of what you choose to see in it
and what you have given to it.
That broadens the meaning of "What you see is what
you get."
If you are looking for love, be the love you want to
receive.
If you are looking for hope, be hopeful.
If you are looking for peace, be the peace you want to see
in the world.
If you are looking for happiness, be happy.
If you see something wrong in the world you must then be a
part of the solution.
The world I see is a reflection of me.

RE:
"One"
Bob,
The story from your "One" lifted me! I wonder if she knows how awesome and uplifting her own story is. How blessed it is to hear her humility, perseverance, strength, and faith shining through. I thank God that you were a blessing to her, and that she was a blessing to me. Thank you, Janet Bob, I just read your “one” message you received. You don’t
realize how many
people you do touch. So many times I will laugh or cry with your
stories. I rarely
reply to your stories, as I figure you are probably inundated with
letters from all
your unseen (unmet) friends. Those of us who do not write for a
living don’t realize
that those who do, need the feedback for fuel to go on. I may not
get to read your
stories each day as they come in, but I don’t delete them until I
have a chance to
do
so. Like tonight; I have had a bad past couple of days, due to my children
having
major problems in their lives. My daughter and her husband
separating (they have a
2
year old daughter), my oldest son considering splitting with his girlfriend of 4
or 5
years, my youngest son who just turned 18 whose girlfriend is
carrying his child.
I
read your story and it gave me a point of light in my life; a ray of sunshine
for my soul.
God
sends us little spots of joy to sustain us during our trials. You are that light
for me today.
Yesterday I had a big light of joy as my husband (who just turned
61) was baptized.
And
I will try to remember that when your stories touch me, to let you
know.
God
bless you and please keep touching our lives with your
stories.
Hugs and blessings,
Diana
Bob,
In many ways I can relate with the writer of "One" and
I can relate with your
friend that now has the "Broken Rainbow" picture drawn
by an artist friend of yours.
I was sexually abused, physically abused, and
emotionally abused by family as
growing up, then I repeated the process in
marriage. That happens so often in life
as we don't know any better. I thank God that I
was able to break that road in my
life so that my kids could have a better life. I
am now on my third marriage, and
what a blessing my husband is!! My 24 yr old son
now feels that he has the father
he has never had. My 22 yr old daughter
understands now what a male parent role
should be like.
In many ways aren't the majority of our lives just like
"Broken Rainbows"?
We can choose to focus on the broken parts, or we can
choose to focus on the
rainbow. Life is about choices, many more
people need to realize that. What we
make of life is OUR choice, so many people try to blame
society for everything...
that is easier than taking responsibility for our own
choices. I have tried to make my
kids aware of their own choices. I think I have
succeeded. I know God has been
in my life the whole time. I have had my ups and
I have had my downs (to the
point of considering suicide more than once) I thank
God for helping me to make
the right choices in my life... including choosing to
live the best I can.
We all have the need to be appreciated. I am sure
you get this need filled more than
most by people responding to your stories.
Imagine how you'd feel if no one ever
responded. Think of all the people that feel that
way every day.
God blesses you a lot.
God has given you a gift that is wonderful and you are
wonderful to share it.
Have a GREAT Easter.
A faithful reader in Nevada.
Hello Bob,
Thanks for sharing this story and email.
I too have enjoyed your articles and life
stories.
Guess at times I forget to thank you for the
inspiration.
I have often forwarded your stories to others that I
know may also be moved.
Again I appreciate you and wanted to thank you for
keeping in touch even though
we have not ever met. Sharing the "Good News" through
stories is continuing over the
Easter Weekend and beyond some 2006 plus
years since Jesus was born. Keep up
the great work in encouraging others. That was
part of Jesus' mission here too on earth.
Thanks
David
Bob, My heartfelt thanks for sharing the letter from
"The One" who responded
to you. She expressed my sentiments exactly when
she said she needed you
and people like you who guide and uplift us. It makes
me happy that you felt
encouraged and uplifted by her email because I have
felt selfish in receiving such
blessings from you and not giving anything in return.
It hurts me that you feel
unappreciated at times, so please forgive us when we
fail to say thank you for all
you do and show our love and appreciation for your
worthy efforts.
Your faithful friend in Texas,
Linda
Bob,
Wow, God sent me a message just now. It has been
a week of such incredible
sadness for me. And as i tried to focus on the
events of Holy Week my mind kept
coming back to my own sadness and I wonder if i will
ever feel whole again. Like the
lady in this letter i too have had many sadnesses in my
life--many feelings of betrayal
and abuse and lost love and friendship. I admit i
am still trying to make sense of this
latest loss and wondering what, exactly it is
that i am doing wrong. I am hoping, with
my faith and God's constant love i will work it all out
in my head so i can get back to
the joy of living life. Thank you for
giving me something to think about.
Cindy
Bob,
Wow and WOW - what a
powerful testimony within the letter sent from that lady in
Georgia! Bless
you, Bob, for sharing it with us readers. Often I comment in my thoughts
about your messages, but
don't take the time to type you a note and let you know,
even though it only
takes a minute.
And, to add to Dr.
Dyer's remark about kindness...if we choose being kind over being
right, we will be right
every time.
My mother had several
mottos, one of which was, "Be kinder than necessary to everyone
you
encounter." Sometimes this has backfired on me, but the
majority of the time it
really has positive
results.
Bob, thank you muchly
for your uplifting, thought-provoking messages. You have such a
great gift of
exhortation. Keep on keeping on!
Embrace the new
day,
Sandi.
