Hello, my friend!

Last Monday I asked for prayers for Jim and Kathy.
The day I sent out my "Lilac" story she passed away.

Here is a note from Jim:
Bob: Thank You for all of your kindness. With your permission I am
going to use your "Spring Forever In My Heart" and have my Son read
it for me as my farewell to her. I don't think I can stay stable long
enough to do it.

God Bless,

Today's Message:

"I'll drop you a line"
By Bob Perks

He always joked that he'd write to me.

"I'll drop you a line someday," he would say and then laugh.

I needed desperately to hear from him. Perhaps he sent this message.
Some would say it was just coincidence. But if there's one thing I don't
believe in, it's coincidence.

I've thought about him often since he left. I've wished upon a star and
prayed upon my knees that somehow I could see him one more time.
Just to say "hello!" or even to have the chance to watch him.

Just watch him? How odd.

Yes, I never realized that I had been doing it through the years. But I did.
I know because I catch myself mimicking him. So I must have noticed the
way he held his head, his smile and the way he sat. It all became a part
of me. How did that happen?

Lately I've been seeing him, too. Oh, not really him, but reflections of him in
the face of a stranger. Then just the other day I saw his eyes when I looked
at my brother. It really took my breath away, but I couldn't say a word. I was
afraid in doing so he'd go away again.

But today he left this note for me. He knew I could not visit him, although
I wanted to. So instead I found this note that said, "I appreciate what you
have done for me. You are a fine son, Dad"

There it was tucked between the pages of my bible. I got that habit from my
Mom. We had this big old family Bible that was filled with mementos. Pressed
flowers, burial cards, pictures and prayers cut out from magazines she read.
Although mine is not as full, it holds some things I thought were important
once and having tucked them away, forgot about them until...until I needed
to be reminded again.

It's funny how these things work. Someone had sent me a note and included
a reference in the Bible. It was in that search that I found my father's note to me.

Come to think of it I was searching for the words of my Heavenly
Father when my father in heaven dropped me a line.

"I appreciate what you have done for me. You are a fine son."

It was great hearing from you, Pop! Thanks for writing.

Sure, that's a coincidence.

RE: "I want"

Bob,
I Know you may hear this a lot, but i just wanted to tell you
how much you brighten peoples lives.  I had written to you
about my psoriasis and you responded, i have since
started UV treatment and it is starting to work.  I have lost 97 lbs
and am feeling better about myself.  I still have some health
issues that need to be taken care of but i am feeling a whole
lot better thanks to the lord, my wonderful daughter, and friends,
which you are included even though we have never met.  thanks so much
gerry

Bob,
Outstanding message in today's "I want." I pray it gets very wide distribution.
The message deserves that. God bless you and Marianne!

Wow, Bob!  Your wants are the same wants I have...in fact, I believe many of us
have those same wants.  Wouldn't it be nice to go back to the time when being
politically correct was never a concern of anyone!  You've hit the nail on the head!

God bless and may you (and Marianne) feel Christ's peace, always!

hi Bob & Marianne,
I agree with you. I am so tired of all this
politically correct stuff I could scream.
oh don't get me wrong, I still think we should be careful of the
feelings of other.
but there is a point where it becomes
ridiculous.
go on being yourself, for that is what we love about you.    Nancy

God BLess all our servicemen and women wherever they may be.  Thank you all.  Dianne

RE: I loved this response from a "friend I've never met
in response to my "Lilac story":

Bob,

I'm sure you know quite a few Jewish people...

We have a tradition as ancient as the 2nd temple days...

Whenever we lose a close relative for a whole year we say kaddish for that
person who has left our midst ... we do not mention our loss in that
prayer but rather we reaffirm our commitment to sanctifying the name of
G-d who took our beloved away from us. ... at 3 public services each day
... and we do many good deeds in his/her memory... In this way our loss is
comforted ... for the Soul of Man is like the small candle of G-d [from
the book of Proverbs]... look at a candle in its burning bright and watch
it then and then watch it in its last few seconds before it dies ... Those
who light candles on a weekly basis [Friday before sunset] can see this
remarkable phenomenon ...

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye."
