This is my first newsletter. I think it would be helpful as writers to get more input from the men about their thoughts on the sex writing. My husband is deceased, but I think I know what he would have said. "Just hurry up and make some money." He would not have cared what I wrote. I used to go to an all women swimming pool and one husband waited for his wife in the lobby every time she came because he was the driver of their car. He was 80 to 81 years old and was always reading romance paperbacks. He liked them very much. Coming from the old school, one day he asked me "what sort of girls write these things, anyway". Apparently he had just read a flaming hot passage. I told him they were very nice girls, like anyone else. He made me laugh so much at his enthusiasm over the books that I suggested a couple others for him to read. On the other hand, I went to a male doctor one time, carrying a Nora Roberts book and he began talking about his favorite author, James Patterson. He said: "I like mysteries, but not romances. GAG". To each his own, I guess. My regular doctor didn't flinch an eyelash when he found out I was trying to learn how to write romantic suspense. He just started talking about his favorite author, Dan Brown and asked if I had read The DaVinci Code. |
