Reality is what it is. In some of the swing states, if the polls stay roughly the same between now and the election, the difference between the President winning or losing a particular state may be whether Nader is on the ballot or not. Therefore, I encourage you to sign a Nader qualifying petition if you can find one. If you have any far-left acquaintances, urge them to support the Nader candidacy. It may be that many of them will remember 2000 and blame Al Gore's loss on Nader. Tell them what you want, but as far as the left could be true to its roots it should be backing Nader. Remind them. We live in an era of serious issues and historic challenge. It is up to us, you and me, on how the future plays out. The Democrats are organized and driven and they cannot stand on their record so they will lie anytime it serves their purpose. The Left has a considerable advantage in the the mega-communication industry from print and broadcast media, 527 organizations, unions, propaganda films and the educational system, and they are pulling out all stops in targeting President Bush for defeat. The only way to ensure that they do not win is for every single supporter of President Bush to do his or her part in combating the left's campaign of lies and to get every single supporter of the President to vote. To prevail, we must win the battle for the swing states! The Left is already flooding those states with money and out-of-state workers (and if rumor and history are guides, out-of-state voters on Election Day!). It is up to us to match or exceed this pre- election effort! Was there ever any doubt? Last week was kind of fun watching the Democrats squirm and keep their mouths shut over a candidate they had no enthusiasm for and a platform they didn't believe in. Now riding on the results of a four year orge of Bush Bashing, the Democrats have a candidate whose only accomplishment in life was over 30 years ago. That said, the polls have us well behind so we've got to get busy! Sunday reveals that reality comes knocking soon enough. Homeland Security raises the threat level for New York, New Jersey, and Washington. If attacked, John Kerry would retaliate. Doesn't that make you feel safer? The President announced the implementation of many of the 9-11 Commission recommendations on Monday, flanked by the National Security team. For those who were listening, these guys are doing their Constitutional duty and IMO, a terrific job in protecting this country. One would really have to have a hate-filled heart not to recognize that this team is perfect for these times and that this is no time for wimps. The Democrats cynically hope for failure in Iraq and the ME as their best hope to regain the White House. The dims are also betting against the economy. And they call it patriotic and 'a strong and respected America'... You have got to wonder if there are any Democrats with any principles at all. They have nominated a man who stands against 90% of their number on the major issue of the campaign. Vague promises filled the balance of his platform. There was no mention of Social Security, Medicaid, or taxes in his address. Any Leftist with any scruples left would vote for Nader after the fakery in Boston. Oh, I used Democrats and principles, and later, leftist and scruples in the same sentence. Sorry! The polls are confirming that the Kerry Vague Promises for Everybody Campaign has gotten at most a four point convention bounce. This is less a bounce than a thud, historically speaking. In the all-important electoral vote count, Kerry leads the President by a wide but narrowing margin in most polls. In the meantime we've got to make it to par and above (well above) because If It's Not Close Then They Can't Cheat (a plug for Hugh Hewett's book by the same name). This election could go either way and will be highly dependent on the events of the last week or two. No matter what the polls say, we will have to work right up to the end, and beyond, if necessary. Bush represents well the historical values that have made this country the best hope for humanity. We have seen those values come under attack from abroad and from the opposition, attacks which have been unprecedented in their scope and their viciousness. The President is doing all that is possible to prevail in this War on Terror against an enemy that would kill us all and drag the world back to the 11th century. Likewise, the President has pursued a sound economic program that has brought the economy out of an inherited recession to the point where we now have over 4% annual growth. It is not the time to trust our national security and our economy to the vague promises of a utopian future from two of the most liberal Senators in Congress. This time around, it is up to each and every one of us to do something beyond voting, as important as that civic duty is. All we ask is that you do your part.
