Subject: Daytrippin' News--Live 8 Concert update - June02, 2005

Top 10 Things You Need to Know about the Live 8 concerts:
"The Long Walk to Justice"
by Trina Yannicos

1) There will be five concerts held on Saturday, July 2, in Philadelphia, London, Paris, Rome and Berlin and they are all FREE!! The only city requiring tickets is London. Other venues do not require tickets -- details on how to attend will be announced shortly. Paul McCartney will be performing at the London show.

Tickets for the London Hyde Park concert will be made available through a special TEXT lottery to be announced at 8am (UK) on Monday 6 June through TV, radio and newspapers. Those who are not lucky enough to get tickets will be able to watch the show and share in the excitement on giant BBC screens in the centre of major cities across the UK including Birmingham, Hull, Liverpool, Manchester, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Belfast, Leeds and Wrexham.

For the chance to win a pair of tickets to the London event you will need to enter the text competition - you can enter as many times as you like - there are 72,500 pairs of tickets to be won.

Details of the text number and competition will be announced on the 6th June - via all UK radio stations & BBC Television. No entries will be accepted before 00:01 on the 6th June. Each entry costs ??1.50* plus your operator's standard text charge.

The competition will close at midnight on the 12th June and winners will be chosen at random by computer and notified by text message after the 13th June with details of how they can collect their tickets - either online or from collection points around the UK.

Due to the tight deadlines we are working to, you will need to be able to collect your tickets within ten days of notification of winning, otherwise you will forfeit them.

2) This sequel to the historic Live Aid concert in 1985 is called "Live 8" because it will take place just before the G8 Summit on July 5-8 in Scotland.

The G8 Summit is a meeting of the eight most powerful world leaders: George W. Bush (USA), Tony Blair (UK), Gerhard Schroder (Germany), Jacques Chirac (France), Paul Martin (Canada), Silvio Berlusconi (Italy), Junichiro Koizumi (Japan) and Vladimir Putin (Russia).

The Group of 8 will decide whether to implement a plan to save millions of lives in Africa and the poorest countries.
