How to keep your cool when dealing with difficult people 1. Be clear on what you want in the situation and focus on getting the purpose accomplished rather than being led away by emotions. 2. Do not expect any sympathy, understanding, recognition or praise in these encounters. Remember, the minute you want anything from the above list in such situations they acquire the power to hurt you. 3. If you feel threatened, remind yourself that these people have mastered the art of making the other person seem insignificant and special techniques to threaten the other persons??™ sense of self. So do not let their mannerisms or words get at you. 4. Do not be tempted to avenge yourself, such efforts are self defeating and have a tendency to backfire. If they are not willing to listen or understand try a different way to convey this ,either by writing a note or finding someone else who can get it done for you. 5. Ask yourself, ???What about this person or situation threatens me?, What am I afraid of losing?" You will be surprised at the insights you receive from asking these questions. 6. Now a most effective technique is to sincerely wish them well in your mind and also affirm that you can lose nothing. This is very hard to do if you have been hurt many times. But it will release you from anger and enable you to pursue what is really important in life,-------inner freedom. 50 Ways To Overcome Worry And Anxiety Freedom from worry and anxiety.
