The Secret of Happiness??

? I once had a friend who would always be experimenting with all kinds of exotic systems and philosophies for finding happiness. One time it was yoga, then it was deep breathing and then it was raw foods (raw foods he told me was supposed to clear toxins and keep body healthy and eventually create happiness) and then something else. But from the way he was hopping from one system to another, I gathered that he did not find what he was looking for. We are all, in a way, trying to be happy whether by having more money, more beauty or more fun or by following a certain teachings, religion and philosophies. All these seem to me just different ways and attempts to become happier with oneself and one??™s circumstance.

I? remember when I was the happiest, it was when I was deeply involved in an endeavor where I knew I could use my abilities and provide value to those around me. It may be providing leadership in times of trouble or helping someone solve a problem .I felt happy whenever I applied myself in situations I knew I could contribute to the solution. I have talked to many people about happiness and this is my conclusion-Happiness never occurs in a void, ------ happiness is a by product of active giving, sharing, love and involvement. When we actively use the qualities of Love (sharing, appreciation, giving, forgiveness etc) in an endeavor that motivates us to give our all in adding some kind of value to the lives of others, we experience happiness. The other ways to happiness are usually disappointing and impractical.

Here is an advice for those suffering from depression and self-pity-???Go out and make yourself useful to others around you and the world you live in. Become involved in understanding how you can use unique abilities to add value to the lives of others and you will be happier, healthier and get the most joy out of life.???
