Subject: Moving on from 'Why me?' - July10, 2006

There are times when we feel victimized by life itself. When hopes are shattered and hopes reduced to unreachable fantasies. In such moments we look up and ask--- Why me? This question express our anger and resentment at being put in situations we did not deliberately choose or want.Does searching for an answer to this question help? It does sound cruel but if you look outside for answers then you will surely get many responses but none that can help you.The real place to look is in our own hearts. The real question to ask is --what do I carry in my thought that has brought such an experience? This will reveal to you the answer,if not immediately then eventually.

What to do when things turn out against you:

  • Stand apart from the situation mentally and look at it as if you were not involved
  • Do not be hasty to blame anyone
  • See what you can learn from this situation you will understand that there were certain thoughts and actions on your part that contributed to it if not wholly then partly.
  • Anger, revenge and feelings of envy will only pull you deeper into misery fight them and cleanse your heart -look for little things that you can appreciate
  • No matter what happens in your life try each day to be kinder, more loving and more grateful-it helps in ways that are not easily discernible but will eventually lift you out of any misery. That's a promise.
