Subject: Subscriber, Here is your Article on how to use Concealers - August19, 2006

Since my last letter to you was so long, I am going to make this one short.  Well at least I will try!

Here is some information on Concealers and the how's and why's.

Mineral Makeup Foundation used on its own can make a great concealer.  But sometimes spots, red marks, and other discolorations are just too stubborn and still show through.  I recommend using your foundation as a spot concealer to start with, and if it doesn't work, check out what each of the individual colored concealers are specifically designed to do.

You can check them out here -

Here are some other helpful tricks when using concealers-

1.  When applying concealers with a Traditional Foundation such as a cream foundation, you want to apply the concealer AFTER the foundation.  You can do your highlighting and shadowing before the foundation as these products are thicker and extremely lighter and darker than your foundation.  But when using a concealer first, under these types of foundations they are just wiped away and blended with the foundation so the concealer does not do a great job.

2. When applying correctors and concealers for use with Mineral Makeup, apply the concealer or color corrector first.  Also don't over apply the colored correctors, they are meant to correct color differences not hide the mark on their own, this is what the foundation is for.  More is not better when using colored correctors, for example, you will actually take on a gray look if you over apply the Get the Red Out.  Use the correctors to neutralize the color problem and then apply your foundation.

3.  I found that if you have pink scarring or redness from acne spots the best way to apply your concealers and correctors is as follows:

Spot conceal with your foundation.

Apply a layer of your foundation and let it set for 10 minutes.
Mix an equal amount of your foundation and the Get the Red Out in a cap.

Using the Concealer Brush, your finger or cotton swabs, spot the red areas that are still showing through.

Let set and apply another thin layer of foundation.  You can also apply Satin over your foundation for a nice even matte appearance.

Concealers and Correctors will last for a long time, you really need very little to get the job done!

When you are using one of the Bisque colors I recommend that 75% of you use the Light Bisque.  Unless you are in the very tan or deep skin tones, you don't want the Medium Bisque concealer, it will end up showing through your makeup and giving you giraffe spots!

For those of you who have oily eye lids or just want to brush an all over primer to your face before applying your foundation, Matte Primer is your solution.  If you have oily skin, I recommend the same for an all over face concealer and oil absorber.  It also makes a nice neutral colored eye shadow!

Well that is it until next week!  Let me know if you have any questions or helpful hints you want to pass along to others!

Next week we will be talking about how and when to clean those brushes!  Yes, you're supposed to clean them!
