Subscriber, It still surprises me how many Men and Women use products long after the expiration date has come and gone. I promise you that companies put expiration dates on products for a reason. Not just to convince you to throw them away early and then run out to buy more.
This leads me to "The Blush that Outlasted a Marriage!"
Yes it's true, women including my Grandmother would find a favorite color of a product and hold on to it forever, literally!
One Reason was due to the War, all Face Make up was in short supply in the 1940's. News of a fresh stock of well known branded lipsticks or makeup at the local chemist, meant that the shop would sell out within an hour. If you wanted some, you better get there quick or buy more than you needed at that moment!
In those days they did not need to worry about expiration dates as they usually used things up before their favorite item expired. Today we have so many brands, colors, styles and other options to choose from that we find our makeup drawers and bags filled to the top with things we never use!
My Grandmother found out that her favorite product, Petal Pink Blush was going to be discontinued back in the 70's. So what did she do, like any smart woman she stockpiled it of course! Unfortunately, Blush only has a shelf life of approximately 1 year maximum.
Skip ahead 20 some years... After the death of my Grandpa, my Grandma lived by herself for about 6 years, extremely happy and still full of life I might add! She still put on her makeup every morning, including her favorite Petal Pink Blush.
When my adorable Grandma passed away, I helped my Parents with the difficult task of cleaning out my Grandmas home and going through her belongings. While going through one of her closets in the back of the house I noticed an old beat up box on the top shelf. Guess what I found, about ten more years worth of Petal Pink Blush and yes it had already expired about 20 years earlier!
So physically, the Blush Outlasted the Marriage! But technically it expired back in the 70's!
If you are looking for a new favorite Blush Color, click here to check out Petal Pink Blush for yourself. I re-created the color and it is now for sale in my Mineral Makeup Line! I think I would have made my Grandma proud, not just by re-creating her favorite Petal Pink Blush, but because I did it with ingredients that will NEVER EXPIRE!
Next Week I will send you a list of the actual recommended shelf life for products on the market.
Until then gather your makeup bags and get ready for a little Cleaning!
